I would be incredibly skeptical of your planning and hesitant to spend my money if you introduce a new powertrain 1 yr into my ownership and only charge slightly more. I would understand if this was the last year of production and a new model is coming next year and I choose to still buy this model.
Of course Lexus would not show all their cards, otherwise the GSF will not sell. People would just wait. As others have stated, this happened to the GS300.
They actually did showed their cards when the 3GS300 debut in N.America as a first year 3GS model, because at the same time, they were selling the new GS350 in Japan.
We at CL were a bit outraged, but maybe the general Lexus buying public was not LOL
Why would an extra 80 some horsepower cost an extra $40k or so? I can't wrap my head around that figure. Would a turbo, an intercooler, bigger brakes, and perhaps revised transmission cooler, cost an extra $40k? The cost will be incremental at best. Perhaps another $10k added to the price.
It would increase the $40k not because of actual cost but because if Lexus offers everything their competitors do they will also price it in line, maybe just shy, of their competitors. What something costs to make, and what you choose to charge are to entirely different things. Plus at 600hp you are looking at a revised/new trans, probably even larger brakes or carbon to keep up with the Joneses, intercooler, revised pistons, heads, basically a new engine, heavy duty engine cooling. Maybe not $40K but certainly far more than $10k.
Though, I was never a big fan of the SPINDLE design. The front grille is starting to grow on me. But, the Tail lights looks like some cheap Ebay crap.. I'm having a really hard time understanding what Lexus was thinking on that one. Otherwise, the rest of the car looks pretty good. I especially Love the interior on this car..
Has it occurred to anyone that the GS-F is probably the fastest stock 4 door sedan made by a Japanese or Asian manufacturer on the planet as of this moment?
