All of the sudden, $150K for an NSX sounds like a bargain.

$400k to get a V6 from a $20k work truck, nice!

All of a sudden, the LFA is a great deal with a screaming V10 that share nothing with anything.

Even on a relatively slow morning at the Chicago show, the GT had a nice size crowd with their cameras out. A good halo car for FoMoCo.

I'm sure the tech is impressive and the aesthetics are certainly stunning, but with an engine shared with other common vehicles instead of a unique powertrain to give it a profound identity - it's not far from the makings of a car kit

I think dissing on the motor in the GT is a mistake.

OK, the ecoboost branding and some engine architecture will be shared from the engines that go into regularly priced cars, but the specification that it will have output over 600 HP points to the fact that this will be a very high tech mill.

Exactly! Who cares what that engine is shared with. It could be the same engine in a yugo for all I care. But if they manage to make it be able to provide outstanding performance, and reliability, and NVH, that's all that matters.

while the engine may have roots in the f-150 ecoboost v6, i've no doubt there's tons of revisions (some stated). also, this engine is obviously a beast. i was recently in an f-150 with the turbo ecoboost 3.5 and it flies. put it in a light exotic sportscar shell with all kinds of improvements, and it will achieve warp speed. it was kinda dumb of the ford guy to frame it that way.

It's a good marketing move to have the Eco Boost name associated with their super car. The rest of their line with EB can benefit.

I was hoping for 'EcoBeast' but that may be used on a truck.

Would have been nice for Ford to take the opportunity and EcoBoost a Coyote 5.0L V8 or build a special 4.9L V8 with homage to the Mk I's that won in 1968 and 1969.

As it stands Ford is going with the EcoBoost 3.5L V6. No worries, its been proving itself for several years now in many race applications, and with the GT and Ford both returning to Le Mans after 50 years it's exciting.

It actually set a record at Daytona

Braun, Ford, set fastest laps at Daytona with EcoBoost DP

Ford’s new EcoBoost 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 in a Daytona Prototype set the fastest laps ever turned at Daytona International Speedway on Wednesday, in the hands of driver Colin Braun.

Braun, one of sports car racing’s top talents and a full-time driver for CORE autosport in the American Le Mans Series, set single lap (222.971 mph), 10-kilometer from standing start (202.438) and 10-mile from standing start (210.018) records at Daytona. All were subject to homologation by the FIA.

The V6 in the XJ220 is the reason why that car went from epic to lame, it is a beautiful car.

The 3.8L V6 on the Nissan GTR that came out in 2009 output 600 hp stock, it doesn't even have direct injection or variable valve timing on the exhaust side, just plain old school boost that debuted in street cars in the 1970s.

People who are forking over a quarter million for a super car care. In general most people who are spending over 250K on a sports car want it to have a unique engine, not a V6 based on what is used in a Ford Taurus or Pickup. Plus the GT40/GT always had a V8, now the engine is being downsized to a V6 in a new version that costs over twice as much as the last V8 one. A car that aggressive/exotic looking and expensive deserves a more exciting unique power plant then a tuned V6 Ecoboost engine. The XJ220 failed in the market because they gave it a V6 instead of the V12 it was supposed to have.
