(Kia) is recalling certain model year 2016 Sorento vehicles manufactured October 27, 2014, to January 29, 2015.
Interesting. The government must have changed the regulations on when an official model-year vehicle could be built. It used to be that a specific model-year vehicle could not be built more than 12 months before the start of the effective calendar-year.

Toyota to recall 112,500 U.S. vehicles on possible safety issues

(Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp's <7203.T> U.S. arm said it was recalling about 112,500 vehicles due to possible safety issues.

The recall affects about 110,000 Camry, Camry Hybrid, Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles of model year 2015, RAV4 vehicles of model year 2014-2015, and 2,500 RAV4 EV vehicles of model year 2012-2014, the company said on Wednesday. (http://toyota.us/1BxlhUh)

Toyota said components in the RAV4 EV vehicles being recalled might cause them to shift to "neutral" gear due to a software issue, increasing the risk of a crash.

The other vehicles being recalled might have possible manufacturing damage in their electric power steering circuit boards, Toyota said.

The company said it was not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities caused due to these issues.

Default Honda recalling small number of Accord, CR-V models

Statement by American Honda Regarding Connecting Rod Bolt Recall: 2014-2015 Honda Accord 4-cylinder; 2015 Honda CR-V

Mar 9, 2015 - TORRANCE, Calif.

- 137 model-year 2014-15 Accord 4-cylinder and 2015 CR-V vehicles affected in the U.S.
- Engine short block will be replaced in affected vehicles, free of charge
- No related crashes or injuries have been reported

Honda will voluntarily recall 137 model-year 2014-2015 Accord 4-cylinder and 2015 CR-V vehicles in the United States to replace the engine short block, free of charge. During engine assembly, an automated system that verifies engine connecting rod bolt torque may not have identified improperly torqued bolts in a specific group of engines. An improperly torqued connecting rod bolt could come loose, leading to potential engine damage and stalling, which could contribute to a crash. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue, which was discovered through a warranty claim review process.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage all owners of affected vehicles to take them to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Mailed notification to customers will begin in late-March. In addition, owners of these vehicles can determine if their vehicles require repair by going to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (800) 999-1009, and selecting option 4.

Default GM Recalls 64,000 Volts Due to Carbon Monoxide Worries

GM has issued a recall for 64,000 Volts, built between 2011 and 2013, following two injuries from carbon monoxide.

The injuries happened when the owners accidently left the car idling in electric mode, which eventually drains the battery and starts the petrol engine. “If the gas engine runs for a long period of time within an enclosed space, such as a garage, carbon monoxide could build up,” GM said to AutoNews.

These injuries happened despite the fact that the Volt warns the driver while exiting with a chime, if left with its systems on and running. GM has scheduled a software update to limit the amount of time the Volt can be left idling in the ‘on’ position.

50,249 of the cars are in the US with the remaining 13,937 to be in Canada.

Default Honda recalling 100k more vehicles to replace airbag inflators

Statement by American Honda Regarding Expansion of National Safety Improvement Campaign: Driver's Front Airbag Inflator Supplied by Takata

Mar 19, 2015 - TORRANCE, Calif.
2008 Pilot and certain 2001 Accord and 2004 Civic vehicles added under new NHTSA campaign number 15V-153

Honda will voluntarily expand its December 2014 national Safety Improvement Campaign (NHTSA No. 14V-351) affecting certain 2001 through 2011 Honda and Acura vehicles in the United States to include 88,549 Pilot vehicles from the 2008 model year, 10,868 specific 2004 Civic vehicles and 5,454 specific 2001 Accord vehicles. While certain 2001 Accord and 2004 Civic vehicles were previously included in 14V-351, no 2008 Pilot models were included before this addition. Honda has not received any claims of airbag inflator rupture in 2008 Pilot models. Since this expansion of the national Safety Improvement Campaign is taking place in a new year, it will be identified separately by the NHTSA as No. 15V-153, but the same repair, replacement of the driver front airbag inflator, free of charge, will apply to these additional vehicles nationwide. With this expansion, a total of approximately 5.5 million vehicles will be covered by 14V-351 and 15V-153 combined.

Honda is committed to identifying and repairing every Honda and Acura vehicle affected by this issue. The company identified the 2008 Pilot and additional 2001 Accord and 2004 Civic vehicles as being affected by the national Safety Improvement Campaign through a process of confirming, on a vehicle by vehicle basis, which 2001 model year and later Honda and Acura vehicles were originally equipped with affected Takata airbag inflators. Honda recently identified these additional vehicles and quickly notified the NHTSA of its intention to add them to the Safety Improvement Campaign.

Background:
As part of an ongoing industry investigation, Honda has been working in cooperation with Takata, the supplier of the airbag inflators, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to remove and test front airbag inflators installed in certain Honda and Acura vehicles initially in 11 U.S. states and territories (Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) and subsequently on a nationwide basis. Honda has been participating in this investigation because of an apparent correlation between the long term exposure to high absolute humidity, which is common in most of those states and territories, and the possibility that a front airbag inflator produced by Takata could produce excessive internal pressure upon deployment and then rupture (break apart). If a front airbag inflator ruptures, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material and hit vehicle occupants. Past ruptures have killed or injured vehicle occupants.

Neither Honda nor Takata has made a determination that a safety defect exists in the driver front airbag inflators that are installed in vehicles included in 14V-351 or 15V-153. Honda hopes these actions will both address customer concerns and further assist in the ongoing industry investigation of abnormal airbag deployments in the vehicles from all affected manufacturers.

Honda is announcing this action today to encourage owners to take their vehicles to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer for repair. Mailed notification to customers in the original regional Safety Improvement Campaign (14V-351) began in September 2014, and additional mailed notification letters including vehicles now included in this new action will be sent to registered owners over time, prioritized by geographic area in the order of highest perceived risk. The most-updated available consumer information about this action is obtainable at www.recalls.honda.com and www.recalls.acura.com or by calling (800) 999-1009 for Honda owners or (800) 382-2238 for Acura owners, and selecting option 4.

Summary of Affected Models in 14V-351 and 15V-153* (Certain specific vehicles only):

2001-2007 Honda Accord with 4-cylinder engines
2001-2002 Honda Accord with V6 engines

Default Chinese TV report leads to JLR recall of 36k Range Rover Evoque models

Coverage from China Central Television recently excoriated several foreign automakers for problems with their vehicles and dealers overcharging for repairs. The broadcast apparently worked because China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has requested a recall from Jaguar Land Rover to fix a problem CCTV reported on.

JLR is recalling 36,451 Evoques from 2014 and 2015 in China to fix their gearboxes, according to Reuters. The automaker reportedly has a software update to remedy issues with poor shift quality, noise and not being to get into Drive in some cases. The company is also extending the transmission's warranty for affected owners there to seven years from the time of purchase or about 149,000 miles, whichever is first.

The CCTV investigation also went after Nissan, Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz dealers for allegedly overcharging for parts and repairs.

The exhaust gas temperature sensors may not function properly, causing the vehicle to incorrectly identify a high temperature condition.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries attributed to this condition, and that includes patients riding in the ambulance vehicles. The company is taking this action because of the unique nature of ambulance and emergency vehicles.

SUMMARY:
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 R1200GS and R1200RT, 2006-2010 R1200GS Adventure, 2007-2010 R1200R, 2007 R1200S and K1200R Sport, 2005-2007 R1200ST, 2008-2009 HP2 Megamoto, 2006 HP2 Enduro, 2008-2010 HP2 Sport, 2005-2008 K1200S, 2006-2008 K1200R, K1200GT, 2009-2011 K1300S, 2010-2011 K1300R, and 2009-2010 K1300GT motorcycles. In the affected motorcycles, the rear wheel mounting flange may crack if the rear wheel mounting bolts are over tightened.

If the rear wheel mounting flange cracks, the mounting bolts may loosen and the rear wheel may not remain secured to the motorcycle, causing a loss of stability and increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY:
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the existing aluminum rear wheel flange with a steel one, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 21, 2015. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
