Also, according to their sales conference from yesterday, in 2015 Lexus will have:
*** Four New or significantly updated models this year
*** Along with several additional new powertrain packages
*** And special editions models
So you can see why we expect 2015
To be another growth year
And very possibly a record year for Lexus dealers

http://pressroom.lexus.com/releases/...ence+notes.htm

So RX, GS-F are two... GS facelift maybe 3rd? What is 4th?
Several powertrains? 2.0t, new 3.5l V6 and new 450h?

Total sales of each GS generation:

1GS (1993 - 1997) = 41,827
2GS (1998 - 2004) = 150,871
3GS (2005 - 2011) = 118,222
4GS (2012 - Present) = 64,100

It looks like the 4GS could surpass the 2GS in sales if Lexus does the mid-cycle refresh carefully. We'll get the GS F and GS 200t very soon and we'll see how that will affect 4GS sales...

Total sales of each RX generation:

1RX (1999 - 2003) = 422,957
2RX (2004 - 2009) = 604,554
3RX (2010 - Present) = 485,176

Even with the introduction of the NX at the tail end of November and a full month of December RX sales actually went up...Lexus sold 107,490 units in 2014.

The 4RX is coming very soon...should be a 2016 model year and look forward to it's arrival...

Great year for Lexus, I'm proud.
i doubt it has much to do with the front grille, most people i talk to still think it doesn't look good

but the other improvements together with the overall price drop are huge factors to its success imho

Total sales of each GX generation:

1GX (2002 - 2009) = 173,808
2GX (2010 - Present) = 73,919

The mid-cycle refresh for the GX started selling in November 2013 and all of 2014 and sales just jumped. It appears Lexus did a great job on the mid-cycle refresh and I know the 2.5GX looks very good...

2GX sales:

2010 = 16,450
2011 = 11,609
2012 = 11,039
2013 = 12,136
2014 = 22,685
Total = 73,919

it has to be the grille, because other improvements were small... as to the price, Lexus said few months back, around 20% are base models, with $60k luxury selling well as well.

Grille gives it a character... and people who dont like it, wont buy it... but also people who do like it, will :-). As we can see.

And according to every PR on every new predator vehicle since, that is their intention.

Arrow Fleet

General Motors sold the most fleet vehicles in 2014 on the strength of its daily rental fleet sales, while Ford delivered the most vehicles to commercial and government fleets amid a rising tide of vehicle sales to close out the year.

The fleet industry's three segments including commercial, government, and rental rose 5.7 percent in 2014 from 2013, as fleets registered nearly 2.36 million light-duty vehicles from nine manufacturers. Overall vehicle sales are projected to reach a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 16.9 million for 2014.

General Motors, which also sold the most daily rental vehicles, increased fleet sales by 0.4 percent and held steady with a 24 percent fleet slice of its more than 2.93 million total vehicles sold during the year. General Motors attributed its rising fleet sales to increased demand for its pickups and SUVs. Truck sales have been bolstered by fleets in the housing and energy industries, especially oil and gas exploration, said Jim Cain, a GM sales analyst.

General Motors also began selling its first mid-size pickups in December with 520 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks heading to fleets. About 80 percent of these trucks were the Work Truck model, while 20 percent were the LT/SLE mid-level trim. The truck was primarily sold to state and local government agencies, utilities, and auto parts suppliers.

Ford sold the most commercial and government fleet vehicles in 2014 as part of its 2.48 million vehicles sold. Total sales were flat compared to 2013 primarily due to updates needed to build the 2015 aluminum-body F-150 and a planned 15 percent reduction in daily rental sales, according to Ford.

Ford assembly plants in Kansas City and Dearborn, Mich., closed for 13 weeks so Ford could retool for the 2015 F-150. F-Series sales fell 1 percent for the year, said Erich Merkle, a Ford sales analyst.

Ford is seeing rising sales of its 2015 Transit full-size van, which was introduced in June. Transit sales reached 10,030 units in December, which accounted for about half of the 20,448 Transits sold in 2014. Ford also sold a record 43,210 Transit Connect compact vans in 2014, including 5,012 in December.

FCA US, formerly the Chrysler Group, doesn't release detailed data for its fleet sales. FCA sold more than 2 million vehicles in 2014, which marked a 16 percent increase over 2013. FCA also recorded a 28 percent increase in sales from its Ram Truck unit.

The commercial fleet segment saw impressive growth in 2014. The nine automakers sold 614,896 units, a 51,419 unit increase (9.1 percent) from 2013. Trucks, vans and SUVs led the way with a 13.8 percent gain, while cars fell 11.5 percent.

Sales to government fleets increased 11.3 percent to 252,657 in 2014 for an increase of 25,581 vehicles. Ford increased its sales to government agencies by 18 percent on the strength of its Police Interceptor Utility, which is the top-selling law enforcement vehicle. By the middle of December, GM began shipping its 1st Chevrolet Tahoe PPVs, which may have accounted for a flat year for GM in the segment.

The daily rental segment increased 3.7 percent in 2014 to 1.62 million vehicles. An additional 58,358 vehicles entered rental fleets compared to 2013. General Motors increased its rental sales by 2.4 percent in part due to a large late-year sale to Hertz Global Holdings. Hertz agreed to purchase about 350,000 2015 model-year vehicles, including GM vehicles, beginning in December. Hertz stated its intention in a Nov. 14 filing.

Meanwhile, Ford said its declining rental sales represent a conscious decision to de-emphasize this segment to protect residual values, Merkle said.

"We're pulling back as our daily rental was down in 2014," Merkle said. "It's simply because we want to focus on more profitable areas of our business."

Grille gives it a character... and people who dont like it, wont buy it... but also people who do like it, will :-). As we can see.

And according to every PR on every new predator vehicle since, that is their intention.

But was it really much of a price drop or mainly because of taking stuff out in the base model? I'm asking because i really don't know how much of each.

It might've been the price drop but the GX didn't start getting noticed until the mid-cycle design, which brought the GX into post 2010.

Lets be honest - pre-refresh GX front end was straight up HOMELY. The new one, while maybe a little awkward from some angles, is significantly better looking. Also, gas prices are way down now and people can't stop buying SUVs, so that helps too.
