My sister finally got her beloved Lexus back today. $2815 was the total cost for the AC compressor. Parts needed for the repair
compressor. $1570.45
magnetic clutch. $493.03
All other parts were under warranty except for a few miscellaneous parts.
My sister is pretty unhappy with her first Lexus.

Toyota/Lexus is proud of their parts, that's for sure.
Everything breaks, including Toyota/Lexus. Statistically ours have broken down at about the same rate as any other brand we've owned. I didn't look at any Toyota's when I bought my Fusion.

The Fusion and its two corporate cousins, the (former) Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ all have a generally good reputation for reliability (one of the best for any American-market Ford product).......particularly with the mechanically simper FWD versions.

Kind of a strange failure for a mild environment like Ontario, but, nothing is 100% reliable... despite engineer's best efforts and inclusion of safety factors to overengineer parts for the conditions they may face.
For example, you might think that a product as simple as rolled steel pipe would be free of flaws or defects... but you'd be 100% wrong. There's been many cases of pipe that failed well before it's rated strength.
