I was wondering if the figures were out. My guess is the V6 engine will be in the next RX so knowing the current Toyota/Lexus 3.5L is at 268-270 hp to 306 hp for the direct injection/port injection version in IS/GS, it would have to be at least a little more than 306 hp

Guessing 310 hp.
2.7L 4 about 210 hp.

BTW, as much as I would not buy the cream/tan color, there's somthing so brutally unique and appealing about it and the TRD version that I actually like it!

And finally, no comparison to the GM badge engineered twin "rubbermaid" interior to the Tacomas. GM's looks 10 years old and cheap in comparison.

2.7L 4Cyl will be a carryover engine, so 159 hp / 180lb-ft.

So, when they meant CARRYOVER, they really meant CARRYOVER....EXACTLY the same 10 years old engines..FAILED....

At least they should tune it for more power and tq.....Hope this is NOT the case.

Probably be a bit less than 300hp. This is a truck application that requires more low end torque to tow a heavier load.

I assume that if Toyota even decides to keep the 4 cylinder engine option, there will be a new one in the next few years. The star of the show for now is the new generation of V6s, as that is the bulk of sales.

autoguide.com has published some engine ratings, but it looks like they may have made an educated guess as well.

the new 2016 Tacoma will be available with an all-new 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson cycle engine that uses Toyota’s D-4S technology, featuring both direct and port fuel injection. Based on the 3.5-liter V6 in other Toyota applications, the engine is expected to produce roughly 300 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque.

On the NX:

tacoma has more space, so it gets much better location.. without having to pull up anything, you just drop in above the shifter.. easy and fast
