Nope, current Tacoma doesn't have a moonroof, leather, power seats, auto up window, locking tailgate, bed lamp, heated mirrors, etc. Lots of features that most people want in a ~$30,000 vehicle these days just aren't available from the factory. Remains to be seen what the 2016 Tacoma offers!

Plus, the new Chevy mid sized twins have over 300hp, so how embarrassing

Thoughts?
The HP numbers for Toyota trucks usually are lower than competitors, but historically Toyota has lower peaking torque while others are higher. Toyota does torque well IMO.

Definitely digging the new look... very nice. I am hearing 300+hp V6 and 6AT, which would be great

I agree. However being down 30+ HP over the competition is a marketing challenge. I guess we will all know come Monday!

I'm hoping that engine and transmission makes its way to the 4Runner soon

I hope you are right! The other "rumors" seem odd

Exactly! As a 5 time 4runner owner, this would be music to my ears! The main reason I am closely following the 2016 Tacoma is in hopes the new powertrain will foreshadow what the next 4R will get.

I hope that the upper trim levels have an option for some tech items like adaptive cruise, HIDs, telescoping wheel, blind spot monitoring etc. It is a 2016 model after all.

I doubt adaptive cruise and HIDs, but BSM and telescoping wheel for sure.

This would just make the 4.6L V8 completely obsolete. Sure it has slightly more torque, but much thirstier. It will most likely get the 270hp 4.0 V6 from the 4runner mated to a 6 speed.

That 4.6L was a placeholder V8 from the beginning and was making the same power as many 3.5 - 3.7L V6s even as it was introduced. It was only ever used as the entry level V8 for the Tundra (and then quickly phased out due to low demand), and the GX 460. It's smooth and torquey, yes, but short on power and MPG.

The 4.0L V6 in the 4Runner is thirsty itself.

Tacoma is getting a new engine and transmission all together - it has been confirmed.
