Agreed on the engines, but not necessarily on the looks. To me, in a people-mover vehicle, Humpback-whale rooflines and tiny Peek-a-Boo rear windows do not necessarily make a great vehicle. Nor does a miniscule-size trunk-lid, though I can't tell, from that view, whether it is a hatchback or not. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming it is.

Actually, in some ways, this reminds me of the Infiniti EX35/QX50, which had some of the same issues.

A '4-door' coupe on steroids, especially in AMG form

OK, perhaps I could have used a better term. What I meant was a vehicle that was meant to carry people (or at least adults) in the rear seats, as opposed to classic 2+2 sporting designs. My point is......if you are designing a vehicle to carry adults in back, don't give it a kiddie roofline. That's basically with Infiniti did with the EX35.

MB updated their site to reflect pricing.

GLE450 AMG with 3.0 biturbo V6 starts at 65K.

GLE63 S with 5.5L handcrafted AMG biturbo V8 starts at 109K

Although the 450 is a bit pricier than the X6, the 450 has a 60 HP edge.

Dealers will probably charge a 10k mark-up. Plus a few options. So I wouldn't expect to spend too much less than 80k for the 450

I dont think they will offer the 450 amg as their "base" vehicle. There must be a lower engine option coming right?

I've noticed that mb usually offers more engine options later in the model generation. For example, the cls base engine was the 550. Now they have a cls400.

With a name that takes as long to say as its 4.2sec 0-60mph time, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupé is an SUV of extremes. Built to rival the BMW X6 M and Range Rover Sport SVR, Vicky Parrott tells us if this 2.3 tonne, 577bhp V8-engined AMG can justify its £100,000 price tag and stand out among its stiff competition.

On race tracks around the world, staying ahead of the competition is all that matters to Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton. And when he's not on the race track, it's no wonder that he still leads the way. In the new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé. With the presence of an SUV and the elegance of a Coupé, it is an instant eyecatcher. And when you drive it, you'll be blown away by its dynamics and agility. Thanks to DYNAMIC SELECT and up to five drive programs, the new GLE Coupé is not only perfectly equipped to cope with a wide variety of challenges, but also to meet the high expectations of its driver.

After a Quick Spin in the GLE Coupe we find it a very fine vehicle to drive.

i still cant believe they went through all that effort to build X6-like vehicle and did great job with exterior, added some great engines and then got stuck on B class dash/infotainment/hvac interior design.

love it. these style of vehicles ARE the new sport sedan (replacement). they're still awesome to drive but are more useful, easier to get in and out of, and have more presence.
