Well they could only do so much with the existing ML/GLE setup. Doing things such as moving the air vents would be ludicrously expensive for a vehicle that's going to have a relatively short life cycle and is a spinoff of an existing model.

that "b class" dash is what is found on everything MB designed between 2008 and 2013. I think it still looks okay and I personally like the functionality of the dial pad

thats just cheap cost cutting from MB..if Lexus can redesign interior of LX completely for 2 years of sales, then MB can do much, much better with GLE...

And I very much doubt that GLE will be replaced in 2 years either.

Otherwise, exterior of the car looks great.

1) Why would you redesign the interior for the hell of it and make it completely out of sync with the normal GLE? The GLE Coupe is going to sell in small numbers globally and its profitability depends on its shared parts with the normal GLE. There's a HUGE difference between "cheap cost-cutting" and making smart budget decisions. Just because you could doesn't mean you should.
2) The GLE Coupe will probably be here for 4 years, but the normal GLE (which this is based on) will only be sold for 2 more years before its redesign.
3) Profit margin is likely much lower than Lexus with the LX. We all know they're printing money with that vehicle, especially given the underpinnings have been in production since 2008.

BMW did the exact same thing with the X4 (which probably has a slimmer profit margin, granted) which is also going to have a short life. It makes sense. The LX is the exception to what happens in the industry.

Anyways, you're welcome to your own opinion of course but that sounds like a unnecessary budget expenditure to me.

The new sports sedan eh ? Now you don't even mind the wheel gaps, which you used to with sedans

How do you figure? I was one of the first few to get a w205 c63 and I got a discount? And yes the c63 is high demand car currently there's a 3 month wait

MB interiors look nice in pictures but in reality they are cheap and chintzy. As least all the floor models I sat in during the NY Auto show. And this looks like a rebadged BMW X6

Not much you can do to the overall shape if this is the segment you want to compete in. All they did was 'Benz' it up

Maybe it's an L.A. thing. I've seen mark-ups on Kias of all cars.
