ATF inspection only for life of car? Any high milers here who have never drained ATF?

No it does not make sense to replace any fluid before it is recommended, if you are going to sell the vehicle at 50K miles.

None of the dozen GM vehicles made in the '70's I owned & serviced had transmission drain plugs.

Think about it. A drain plug is always necessary and nice to have, why would they not put one in?

They lied and tell the general public there is no drain plug so people won't change the fluid.

Deception for financial gain, understand?

Don't believe everything you read.
I had a Toyota mechanic tell me you needed a special tool only available at Lexus for the transmission drainplug in my GS. I did not really believe that and will be looking into it. There are tools for sucking out transmission fluid/motor oil without needing to use the drain plug. I am going to drain and refill my trans fluid myself.

I actually forgot, the drain plug is just on the pan, it is the fill plug that they hide it under a plastic cover.

This summer I changed the tranny fluid on my RX300 because i felt that after 280,000 kilometres (175,000miles) it would be about ready. Really didn't need to. The fluid was clean, bright and had no burnt smell. Looked just like the fluid I put in there.
