Phoenix Auto Show
Very nice new car show at the Phoenix Convention Center every year on the weekend after Thanksgiving. Lots of driving experiences are available. There was an RC-F to drive, but it was all booked up for the time I had available. I did drive an NX and my comments are in the NX section.
I did not see any Mustangs for drives, but Ford was offering a $10 gift card if you drive one of their hybrids. I passed.
I got to try on many cars while there. The most disappointing for me was the Mercedes C400. The rear seat is very cramped and the roof curves down on the side so much that it is difficult to get out and no room for knees or feet once in. The E class fit much better, but is starting to look old.
There was a BMW M4 with the most beautiful blue paint job I have ever seen. It was a light blue pearl and really sparkled.
The Lexus stand had all of the current cars plus an RC-F on a rotating table. It was molten pearl (orange) with carbon fiber roof and spoiler. It looked fantastic. The RX parked next to the NX really showed the vast difference in rear seat room and cargo space.
Ford had 3 Mustang GT coupes on display and 1 convertible that was roped-off. Nice looking but not the major change in style I expected.
This was my first time up close with the Acura TLX and I was impressed. Very nice looking and good interior. It is much smaller in back seat area than my ES350, but otherwise seemed competitive. I don't need or want 4wd, but that might be and advantage for Acura in some areas.
I was hoping for some concept cars from the LA Auto Show, but apparently they all are going to San Francisco.
