Resale for 4wd Tacomas is BAT **** CRAZY
FYI, I have a pos 2wd 1993 Toyota truck, its been hit in the front, doesn't have a straight body panel on it, a/c is broke, interior is a bit rough except the seat, its been painted flat black with house paint, but it runs good, drives straight as an arrow, and has "low" miles, 170k on it. Its a $1500-2000 truck, ie a reliable but ugly truck with a lot of life left.
I've been wanting to upgrade my truck to a much nicer 1995-2000 4wd Tacoma extra cab V6. I HATE that front grill Toyota gave the 2001-04 Tacoma, WTF were they thinking putting a 1953 Buick Century grill on a pickup truck. Besides, the only advantage of an 01-04 is you could get them in the 4 door/short bed config, which I'd much rather have the longer bed.
Anyways, prices for these trucks are just bat**** crazy. I mean everything I looked at in my budget for the past two weeks was either salvage title, over 200k miles, beat to hell, rusty as ****, really the only only thing I've found that really is what I'd want is this truck, but I'm skeptical, a 1995 with 183k, $9000, for sale 17 days on craigslist. Something has to be wrong with is truck, or his price is way way ambitous. I'm very skeptical about the black paint on a 20 year old truck, ie it looks good in pics, its faded and swirled to hell in real life with a bunch of dings and scratches.

BTW, I'd love a 4wd T100, but so far my local searches have ended up empty for those as well.

Yes, Tacoma's hold their value really well for many reasons...owners love them and they are reliable. The only time a tacoma would sell for cheap is if something major is wrong with it or the miles are close or over 300k. Keep searching im sure youll find a great deal soon.

I think the MAIN reason prices are high is once people buy them, they don't sell them. They keep them for years and by the time they are ready to sell, they are worn with 200-300k miles on them.
BTW, you can get good deals on 2wd Tacomas and older 2wd trucks. They're usually 1/2 to 1/4 the price of a similar condition 4wd.

This is used truck prices in general. Trucks esp 4wd trucks demand crazy prices used. When I bought my denali last year they had a used one on the lot that was around 1k less than my new one.....
