Rolls Royce is today's most overrated and overpriced car. First it is so f***ing ugly, so low tech, and looks so cheap. Looks like a farmer's backyard build. Everything is so basic simple rectangular and yet misaligned, cheap looking 90's plastic watch, I don't know how can anyone pretend it to be world's most luxurious car. Feels like a bus sitting inside, only more silent.

I'd take an S Class, 7 Series, LS, and even FWD A8 and Bentley over a Rolls any time.

...even a Phaeton or the ugly fat*ss Panamera.

Funniest post, ever.
For the first time since the Ghost hit the market in 2009, Rolls Royce has released a significant update to its "entry level" model.

The updated "baby Rolls," called the Ghost II, will not feature any radical styling changes to its already sumptuous body.

Instead, Rolls Royce has opted to load the $300,000 Ghost II with a full complement of the company's latest technology. For the first time, Rolls will include its state-of-the-art Satellite Aided Transmission, which the company debuted in the 2014 Wraith coupe.

The new transmission allows the car to see beyond the driver's visual range and continuously tailor its performance characteristics based on satellite information of the location and driving style.

The new baby Rolls will also have the company's latest multi-media control system, which it has awesomely named the Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller. Named after the automaker's iconic hood ornament, the Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller gives occupants instant access to all of the cars on-board features, including Wifi, video conferencing, and file-sharing.

The system's script pad will recognize characters in Arabic, Chinese, Latin, and English. In typical Rolls-Royce fashion, the company decided against using touch screen technology, because it "might leave unsightly fingerprints" in view of its well-to-do clients.

The new Ghost II will continue to get its power from the company's glorious 48-valve V-12 that produces a prodigious 563hp and 575lb/ft of torque. The BMW-sourced dynamo is good enough to push this 5500lb luxo-barge to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155.

Thanks BNR

I had only seen the one pic from the OP.

I later saw the story on the car (harkening from the age of Maharajas) and the amount of detailed finish work on the car is nuts.

That is how RR separate itself from the mass, bookmatching, inlays, lambswool floor mats..........the kind of details finish work that the mass don't even recognize. See above bashing post

First of all it is Veneer. Underneath is just some ordinary wood. On top it is coated with polyurethane or something else. Nowhere can I get to touch the real wood that they are proud of using. What is the point of this exercise?

This was in a recent issue of Car and Driver.

#1 is the Bentley Mulsanne, #2 is the Passat, and #3 is the Audi S8

Ounces that a square inch in each car weighs:

Is it really necessary to use such thick wood if nobody is every going to see it? I hope they have their own forrest or are replanting trees somewhere. That is unsustainable. Probably nobody here cares but I thought Id throw it out there

If one knocks on the wood panels he or she can easily tell the difference of thickness from the sound and feel of solidness.

ydooby said it, that's what give you that solidness, is call refinement in general, you can't see it, but you can definitely feel it.

Exact same reason why a Lexus LS feels much more solid then a Corolla

Or IKEA furniture vs. solid wood furniture, they do look the same if you don't touch it

They sell very few of those things, the emissions from the millions of Corollas and Camry's are killing much more trees then the few hundreds RR's dash board's wood panels.
