Ford Motor Company U.S. sales totaled 188,654 vehicles in October, down 2 percent from a year ago. Daily rental business declined 13 percent, while government and commercial sales were up 4 and 18 percent, respectively.

Overall sales declines were expected and tied to the plant changeover for the introduction of the all-new 2015 F-150. Declines in daily rental volumes also are part of a planned reduction for 2014. Through October, Ford sales via daily rental channels have declined 18 percent.

“Fusion is an outstanding success story with October marking six straight months of record sales,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Fusion is on pace to break the 300,000-vehicle mark this year for the 1st time ever. Plus, based on the strong sales of the all-new MKC, Lincoln produced its best sales results in October since 2007.”

Fusion October sales totaled 22,846 vehicles – an increase of 5 percent – representing the car’s best-ever October sales performance.

Escape reported sales of 24,919 vehicles last month – a 12 percent increase and the vehicle’s best-ever October performance. Explorer sales increased 6 percent, with 14,455 vehicles sold, making it Explorer’s best October performance since 2004. Transit Connect sales gained 28 percent, providing a record October with 4,068 vehicles sold.

Lincoln sales of 8,883 vehicles posted a 25 percent gain and the brand’s best October results since 2007. MKC continues to lift Lincoln, with sales of 2,197 vehicles. MKC continues to lift Lincoln, with its best sales yet last month.

Arrow Mazda

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported October U.S. sales of 18,798 vehicles, representing a decrease of 4.8 percent versus last year. Year-to-date sales through October are up 8.1 percent versus last year, with 240,228 vehicles sold.

"We are encouraged by our year-to-date sales growth, and expect to see this trend continue through the end of the year," said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales, MNAO. "Mazda6 and CX-5 have both shown year-over-year gains in hotly competitive segments. Looking forward, we will be debuting the all-new CX-3 crossover compact SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and we feel that will give us another solid foothold in an all-new segment for Mazda."

Key October sales notes:
Mazda CX-5 saw its best October ever with 5,991 vehicles sold and an increase of 2.7 percent year-over-year (YOY).
Mazda6 recorded its best October in three years (2011) with 3,149 vehicles sold, an increase of 1.6 percent YOY.
SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY proves to be the key between performance and fuel efficiency as customers demand a no compromise solution. More than 87.0 percent of Mazdas sold in October were equipped with SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY.
Mazda reported Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) October sales of 3,497 vehicles, up 5.0 percent YOY. Year-to-date CPO sales are up 15 percent versus last year, with 35,768 vehicles sold.
Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported its best October sales ever with 3,764 vehicles, up 45.0 percent versus October of last year and the 21st consecutive month of YOY growth.

a new venza, the 4runner desperately needs a new model, and of course scion could use some new blood too.
Agree, but when you look at the life cycle of their lineup, by the time we get a new Prius and Tundra, for example, some other models will be older and selling in lower volumes, so total sales will probably be pretty similar.

Venza does need an update but that has been a niche product and I'm not sure that Toyota has committed to a second generation. Toyota just moved 6,311 4Runners and the 'ute is only 4 years into it's product cycle. It's really not that old, and still selling very well. Scion's volume is nominal anyway...

I'm sure a lot of that "fleet" business is the new Transit van taking off. They specify that rental car business is down.

^Agree. Lots of sorely outdated tech and hardware for a vehicle being sold as a 2015 model.

The 4 Runner is one of the last reliable, back to basics SUV's left. I expect it to sell well because it's essentially a niche vehicle with a very loyal market. Jeep Wrangler enjoys the same situation.

Arrow Luxury

Of October 2014's 15 best-selling vehicles in America with base prices above $45,000, 5 were GM products, 4 were Mercedes-Benzes, and 3 were BMWs.

BMW led the list with the 5-Series, though 5er sales decreased in October. Indeed, sales of the 3 leading $45K+ vehicles all declined year-over-year, while 4 other members of the top 15 posted decreased volume compared with October 2013, as well.

Among all premium brand vehicles, regardless of price, BMW was again in front, although the 5-Series fell to 6th place when less costly vehicles are taken into account. The Acura TLX surged forward once again with continually rising sales: 4890 TLX sedans were sold in October, nearly double the total achieved by the TL and TSX a year ago.

America's leading premium brand car line, BMW's 3-Series and 4-Series, finished the month 49,224-unit year-to-date lead over the next-best-selling premium brand car, Lexus's ES, and a 23,793-unit year-to-date lead over the next-best-selling premium brand vehicle, Lexus's RX. The RX leads the Acura MDX in the luxury SUV standings by 30,641 units. The Cadillac SRX is 8284 units back of the Acura heading into November.

Historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these top-selling luxury vehicles can always be accessed through the dropdown menu at GCBC's Sales Stats page, and for those not viewing the mobile version of this site, near the top right of this page, as well.

I forgot to mention that I find it hilarious Mercedes only sold 33 CLS-class models last month. The 2015's got stuck at the port. Oops!

Thanks GS

Am correct in saying that Maserati has more of the US pie than Jaguar (0.8 vs 0.6 respectively)?

If so the Ghibli is the driver (literally)
