Default Cadillac XT5 (SRX Successor)

Spied here for the very first time is Cadillac's upcoming replacement for the SRX crossover that is believed to be called XT5 under the luxury brand's new nomenclature.

Due to arrive in the market in 2016 as a 2016MY or 2017MY (depending on how early or how late in the year it will launch), the XT5 will reportedly move onto a new FWD and AWD platform architecture from GM codenamed "C1XX".

It's been said that this chassis will be offered in both regular and long-wheelbase versions covering a variety of GM models, including the next GMC Acadia, Buick Equinox and an as of yet unidentified Chevy CUV.

In these spy shots, the new XT5 appears to be similar in size to the current SRX but it has sportier proportions and stance with the front grille positioned lower to the ground. Don’t pay too much attention to the tailgate section as the top contains a fake box.

The XT5 should get Cadillac's latest turbocharged four and one or more V6 engines, likely paired to GM's upcoming nine-speed automatic transmission, if it's ready by then.

It's been reported that GM will move production of the SRX / XT5 from Mexico to its Spring Hill, Tennessee, plant.

SRX/XT5, whatever it's called I'm stoked for this ute. Would love to see a VSport version become available. Current one is decent and was aimed squarely at the RX but still fell short in some regards.

??? Chevrolet already uses the name "Equinox" on its compact SUV.

Also well and good, since we know that the SRX will obviously have to be updated sooner or later. But, right now, an even more pressing need, IMO, is for Cadillac to get to work on a compact SUV to compete with the Lincoln MKC and Lexus NX compact SUVs. The more money, time, and resources they spend on a mid-sized SRX replacement right now, the less will (probably) be left over for a new CUV.

If you guys remember, Spring Hill is where the Saturn S-series compacts were assembled from 1990-2001. That was a highly-rated plant, and, (with the plant-management of the time), treated its employees very well. It consistently produced cars with better-than-average reliability ratings (unlike many other GM-badged vehicles of he time).

Clearly a typo. They were talking about the Acadia and the Buick version is the Enclave (Chevy version is the Traverse - and for a short while Saturn had the Outlook) which also starts with an 'E'. It's surprising how many claimed 'car aficionado's' mix up names poor editing on their part too

Default Cadillac SRX successor slated for a New York debut

Could be called the XT5

It looks like the Cadillac CT6 will be getting some company at the New York Auto Show as Motor Trend is reporting the SRX successor will also debut in the city that never sleeps.

Cadillac has been relatively tight-lipped about the crossover but it is expected to adopt the XT5 moniker and feature a more stylish design with shorter front overhangs.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but could include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 272 bhp (203 kW) and a 3.6-liter V6 with 321 bhp (239 kW).

Additional information is limited but the model is expected to ride on the new C1XX / Chi platform that will eventually underpin a number of other crossovers including the Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia.

I'm stoked to see the XT5, the current one is in need of the latest Cadillac design language and those sharp vertical lights

Default 2016 Cadillac XT5 spied, will replace the SRX

Could debut at the New York Auto Show

The 2016 Cadillac XT5 has been spied undergoing testing in the United States.

Set to replace the aging SRX, the XT5 eschews the angular styling of its predecessor and adopts a more cohesive design that looks pretty promising.

While the camouflage hides a lot of details, we can see the crossover will have a prominent grille that is flanked by vertical headlights. Moving further back, there's door-mounted mirrors, an upward sweeping beltline and a gently sloping roofline. The rear end also has a rakish tailgate and a dual exhaust system.

The interior photo doesn't reveal much but we can still see leather seats, chrome door handles and an under floor storage compartment.

Cadillac has been tight-lipped about specifications but the model is expected to ride on the new C1XX / Chi platform and feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 272 bhp (203 kW). There could also be a 3.6-liter V6 that develops 321 bhp (239 kW).

The Cadillac XT5 could be unveiled at the New York Auto Show, so stay tuned for additional information.

If the CTS is any indication of build quality, this new SRX/XT5 will be very competitive. But Cadillac must be careful and not get too cocky with their pricing.

Yes, they will sticker it at $60k and sell it for $45k after discounts.

That really looks sharp all the way around! The Freightliner grille is so much cleaner and modern than the silly, dated, chunky grilles of recent. And FINALLY, Caddy is giving their lower front bumpers a modern look. This is huge progress. The brand is finally ditching retro styling and entering into mainstream styling that everyone can enjoy instead of just a few.
