There seems to be a lot of visual height to the front of the car. I don't know if it's just the picture, and also having the badge at the top edge of the grille just brings the focal point up high. If the badge was more centered (vertically) it might help that (to me at least). There's the top of the hood, the badge... and then a WHOLE lot of vertical space until you reach the bottom of the front fascia.

Taillights look like they're taken from the ELR, thought they might take the vertical theme from the Escalade.

Also can't tell from the two pictures, but hope they've reduced the awkwardly long front overhang that the current model has.

Not really digging the super-clean ultraconservative design, raked rear, and smaller-looking proportions. Seems to have lost its sportiness. I will reserve final judgment until I see a V Sport or better, a V model

I'm also counting on a world-class interior and driving experience with the way Cadillac is kicking butt in its latest offerings...

Loving the front design. With some nicer rims, it would look pretty sharp! I hope they keep pricing reasonable.

The emblem at the top of the grill doesn't work for me...otherwise I like it.

I'm not feeling it with this photo. Hopefully, it looks better in person.

i like the back, but the front is so tall it looks ridiculous.

many vehicle cockpit views now are like looking out over the brow of a ship.

I don't like the front, and I don't like the big cut down the side. But hopefully it looks better in person.

Part of that is true, but part of it an illusion, I think, because this vehicle lacks a big droop-down grille like Lexus, Audi, Mitsubishi, and some other SUVs. The droop-down grilles eliminate the frontal view of the bumper, fascia, and other lower fender work up front, giving the illusion of a lower front-stance with it really is not.

Well, that's actually what attracts a number of SUV drivers. They LIKE sitting up high, like that, looking out over the front end and over the roofs of traffic around them. I don't totally understand why, except that it can sometimes make overhead traffic signs and signals easier to see, with less blockage of them from adjacent traffic.

I take it you mean the prow or bow of the ship, like the really tall ones on naval warships?

I believe that the large and high grill, and lack of a lower grill (and the high placement of the Cadillac shield does not help matters) gives the XT5's front end a particularly top-heavy feel, making the hood look higher than it is. It really needs a lower grill.

I think that what makes the newest implementation of the Lexus spindle grill (like on the RC) look better is because the lower portion is larger (wider) than the upper portion, giving it a much less top-heavy feel.

I do not believe this is what he means. Yes, drivers like the higher seating position of SUVs and CUVs because they sit higher off the road but also sit higher off the hood of the vehicle. But the high hood of this new Caddy (and also the high hood of the new Nissan Rogue) may negate that benefit because with the higher hood, part of the benefit of sitting up high -- looking down on the road ahead of you -- is lost.

I'm liking the smooth lines. Am I already tired of the jagged transformer look of the NX/RX?

The wheel base looks longer than the current SRX, much like the new RX is. Are they making room for a compact SUV?

The Buick SUV is called the Envision.

Looks très chic. More so than the 1st and 2nd gen SRX it replaces. Cadillac may have a hit

Same here. Cadillac is still trying to incorporate tailfins on their designs by putting it on the vertical tail lights. Front emblem looks off. Is it me or this thing looks like a rebadged GMC Terrain ?
