Would love to see around 300hp, but IMO it'll be between 250-300.

The Forester STI has been offered for years, but, up to now, Subaru has resisted bringing it stateside.

yup.. you can blame toyota for that one.

For every 5 FRS tomoco sells subaru can sell 1 brz. Now add in the exclusivity of the sti and you really can't make a business case.

I agree on the business case for no STI BRZ, but you can't necessarily blame Toyota for that. Subaru was the one who designed the drivetrain/chassis for the BRZ (which an STI package would affect the most), while Toyota did the body and interior. if an STI package (were) to be offered, Subaru would probably have to do most of the work on it, not Toyota.

Doesn't matter those are the terms of the partnership. In reality its actually 10 frs per 1 brz sold

STI Releases Subaru "Forester tS" in Japan
Nov 25,2014

Tokyo, November 25, 2014 - Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI)*1 today announced the release of the Subaru "Forester tS", which goes on sale on November 25 through Subaru dealerships in Japan.

With a development concept focused on creating an on-road vehicle which has a rugged styling, responsive handling performance and quality feel, the Forester tS offers an enhanced version of the driving performance the Forester provides as an SUV, delivering the ultimate in driving enjoyment and pleasure of ownership.

The Forester tS benefits from its own exclusive tuning the "S# (Sport Sharp) mode" for "SI-DRIVE". Driving performance has also been enhanced by the adoption of "brembo" ventilated disc brakes, BBS-designed 19-inch forged aluminum wheels and STI-designed front and rear under spoilers. The exclusively tuned suspension and use of STI's unique flexible parts mean that, under any conditions, the Forester tS delivers the "strong and nimble" driving feel on which STI prides itself.

The new model comes with distinctive specifications: On the exterior these include the "STI" ornament and cherry red pinstripe on the front grille and rear bumper, while the interior features a speedometer with an STI logo and a carbon-toned instrument panel. Features such as these serve to reinforce the model's identity as an STI-tuned car, evoking the pleasure of ownership.

The Forester tS is equipped with Subaru's unique driver assist technology, EyeSight*2, and is exclusively tuned to accommodate its lower ride height and brembo-designed brakes. It was also developed with careful attention to noise reduction, employing floor mats covered in sound insulating material, among other measures.

The company manages motorsport activities of Subaru.
*2: EyeSight(ver.2) as it is known on the Japanese market.

Default 2014 Subaru Forester gains STI goodies in Japan

Click here to view more photos

Equipped with full aerodynamic body kit

Subaru has presented the conceptual Forester STI tS during the latest round of Super GT racing series in Japan.

The sports version differs from the standard Forester with its full aggressive body kit that includes a front splitter, a new black bumper spoiler at the back, larger exhaust pipes and 19-inch Bridgestone Turanza ER33 tires.

According to our source, there could also be some suspension modifications, but this is still unconfirmed. There is no word about engine updates too.

Subaru says the Forester STI tS concept was built to study the reaction of customers. A decision about a production version will likely be taken soon.

Oh boy....

You can always rely on Subaru to come out with some funky looking front ends for their cars.

Why they never released the Legacy STi here in the US still boggles my mind; it was one of Subaru's best looking cars. I can only guess they were afraid it would take away from the WRX STi sales:
