Me too, I had a 1985 GLS-SE. Loved this car, the engine was not powerful but it made the best airplane woooooosh! sounds, a high-revver and quite agile. So much fun. And yes, I miss it to this day.

I also got to go with the MR2 MK1 tho
Owned one before and miss it, wouldn't mind owning another they are fun!
Finding one in great condition and unmodified is becoming rare.

And, of course, the thread topic is specifically 1980s vehicles, so some earlier and later versions of these cars might not apply.

The original Mazda RX-7 and Datsun 240/260Z were true two-seat sports cars. It was only later versions (like the Datsun 280ZX and Mazda RX-8) that varied from the classic 2-seat format.

1988 Mazda RX-7 convertible.
A n/a rotary engine @146 hp with headrest speakers and an indestructible top made in Germany. First sports car that came with a wind blocker(many others followed) while the top could obviously fold down but also be made into a "targa" top. The top directly over your head was removable and stored in the trunk.
Awesome car. I received many, many compliments.

My favorite was the 1986 300ZX Turbo or the 1984 anniversary edition 300ZX Turbo with a whopping 205hp.
LOL at the Fiero, those were junk and whoever came up with the idea of putting speakers in the headrests was an idiot.
