Default CT 200 Sedan - Happiness or Heresy?

According to http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2014...for-2015-46481 lexus is planning a sedan version of the CT 200 - possible with a gasoline engine. I am of two minds: It will help sales in Europe and allow a more "mainstream" model here in North America (hatchbacks are considered weird unless it's a CUV) but it could weaken the Lexus luxury image and cannibalize sales of the CT 200h hatch (which I love and my wife bought) and to some extent the IS.

If I were the king of Lexus, I'd add a CT 200t to the hybrid and leave little sedans to Audi and Mercedes.

So basically an HS250h without the hybrid system.

or lowered NX :-)

It should be based on brand new platform, lower center of gravity, lower weight, higher structural rigidity.

They also talked about various engines, including hybrids and turbo.

What is surprising is that they are releasing concept in March! Thats so soon. But in general, the segment is exploding across Asia and Europe, they have to be there.

The only gas/electric hybrid sold in the U.S. (that I know of) with a conventional 6-speed manual is the Honda CR-Z.

I was talking about the CT200t that OP mentioned. I wasn't talking about CT200h. What I meant is CT with NX 2 liter turbo charged engine and 6 speed manual transmission. Will be nice with AWD too... Just dreaming.

pic in article looks like older FCV prototype... not CT sedan.

CT sedan will be based on their new global platform, not on HS (which is Avensis based vehicle).

Maybe (roughly) in size. Different platform, though.
