Barrett Jackson isn't really about the cars anymore IMO, with its overexposure on TV and the internet. Its about a bunch of new money ***** swingers flashing their cash.
Not saying there aren't good deals to be had at Barrett Jackson on some cars, its just those ***** swingers really overpay at that auction on "blue chip" muscle cars. Stuff like over-restored, numbers matching Mopar Hemi's, COPO Chevys, the stuff that goes for over 100k. Those **** swingers have artificially inflated the prices IMO. Those blue chip muscle cars crashed hard in value back in 2007-2008, and I don't think they'll ever get that high again.
EDIT: Read the link, the $825,000 went to charity, something called Oppurtunity Village. Another family matched the $825k, making it a total $1.65 million donation to Oppurtunity Village. I'm sure the ***** swinger who bought it will just use it as a fat tax write-off, so it really didn't cost him anything. Its cool the money went to charity, and I must say its ingenious marketing, tapping into that new money ***** swinger ego to raise cash for your charity.
