Seeing how Cadillac is having trouble with sales and they also have a problem with perception in that they are not a real tier one brand. I think it is a good thing renaming the cars.

It seems that it's the worst time to do it. The CTS now has brand recognition, and the ATS has received a lot of good press. To take this momentum, and change the car names to names which are all similar to each other seems to be more of a detriment.

Well, If he has nothing to contribute, then why was he hired? CEOs in these kind of positions make serious money. He obviously has something that is attractive to either the rest of Cadillac's management and/or to stockholders (though GM divisions don't have individual stock, it is sold through GM itself).

Fair enough points, however the Cadillac division is not selling as well as they thought the cars should be doing and it is clear that Cadillac is not precieved as being on the same level as a BMW, Lexus or MB.

But they are perceived much more favorably than they were 5-10 years ago, MUCH more favorably. These things take time, and changing the names of models isn't going to solve that issue.

Agreed, but Cadillac really is still not in tier one territory. The individual cars are on par with tier one but the entire brand is not.

There may be a few exceptions, but most Cadillac dealerships today in the U.S. already handle only Cadillac and no other brands. Some of them formerly also handled Hummers, but, of course, that division went down the tubes with Pontiac, Saab, and Saturn.
