Default is it me or does 2015 model year seem 'big'?

seems like a ton of models getting significant refreshes or completely new designs, plus of course new models like the NX, MKC, etc.

seems like it's a big year, which is perhaps also why it seems like car makers are bending over backwards to blow out '14s.

car industry is back, record sales, record profits make everything look better... they are pumping out new models like crazy.

The upcoming new CAFE standards, of course, are also pushing a lot of new and/or major redesigns.

Not really. We're going to say the same thing about the year after and the year after that etc..

Wait till the NX and RC are out then we'll be saying oh 4RX, GS F and refresh and then the upcoming 5LS, return of the SC, new powertrains, 7-pass CUV, GX/LX redesigns, possible RC based 4-door coupe and possible CT sedan and that's just Lexus. BMW 7-Series, Jaguar XF and XJ, E-Class, return of Alfa, GT-R, refreshed Malibu and Fusion more upscale, R8, more hybrid hyper cars, I mean the list goes on.

2017 will probably be another great year for refreshes, redesigns , etc... especially the new LS, and SC.... Seems like every year is getting better and better

It can't come soon enough for some brands (ex: Infiniti, Volvo, etc).
