Anyway, Trexus , thanks for the comparisons.
it is direct sibling of Rav4... It even shares some panels with Rav4.
NX is a bit further removed.

If I remember correctly, I don't believe AWD is going to be offered on CHR.

Well, Europe and the world is crazy about smaller SUV's. This is not exactly small but also not largish as new Rav4... I guess it is sized as last Euro Rav4 - a bit less than 4.4m.

These are crazy popular in Europe and Japan right now, although all the rage are the smaller ones - cars like 2008 and Captur... but these are Yaris class based (B class), same as new HRV.

This will be Auris based, so basically like Nissan Qashqai and ix35/Tucson/Sportage.

I would guess this is going to be stylish/fashion small SUV, to get European, Chinese and Japanese customers that think Rav4 is too utilitarian and a bit large. Probably "wild" like Juke but with size of Sportage.

Which means there is still space left for one more SUV, thats Yaris based... something like HRV.

Thanks for that information. So that completes the Toyota / Lexus comparison.

Forget past pretensions. It's in the past.

This may be more related to the current Venza than Rav4...

It is Auris based... shorter wheelbase than world Corolla, nothing to do with Rav4 or Venza.

Default This is Toyota's C-HR Sporty Compact Crossover Concept

Toyota's all-new C-HR Concept has come out of the digital shadows showing itself ahead of its first public outing at next month's 2014 Paris auto show.

It's a stylized, three-door compact crossover model made to stir up interest and give us a very rough idea of what Toyota is planning for the near future in the category.

Very few details are known about the car, with the Japanese brand having previously said that it combines "a bold new design language with an agile, engaging driving experience and a Hybrid powertrain".

Up until now, we've only seen one prototype that matches the size and characteristics of the C-HR in the form of a high-riding test-mule of the Toyota Auris hatch, which we spotted testing on European roads back in July.

A production version of the study, which would sit under the RAV4, could be offered in both 3- and 5-door body styles.

Yup there are similarities. The RSC was design by Calty and was based on the RAV4. It was a pure concept car, with no intention to go into production.

Topspeed actually wrote an article about this last year.

Toyota To Resurrect SUV-Coupe Concept

Posted on 01.12.2013 23:00

After standing back and watching their sworn rival Nissan grab all the sales in the small SUV market with its Juke, Toyota has finally decided to build such an SUV to rival the Nissan and broaden its range of vehicles. The development isn’t going to start from scratch, as Toyota bosses have stated that the SUV will draw heavy inspiration from the Toyota RSC — Rugged Sports Coupé — that was announced way back in 2001.

Sadly, the market then wasn’t looking for an SUV-Coupe concept as opposed to today’s market where an example like the Range Rover Evoque drives the segment with positive sales figures. So, the project was canned, which was a safe move by Toyota.

With the small SUV market emerging, thanks to the likes of the Nissan Juke and the Dacia Duster, Toyota is considering to join the bandwagon with their rumored SUV. The idea is yet to receive a green light, but if it does, the SUV will sit on either an extended version of the Yaris platform to compete with the Versa based Nissan Juke or the Auris platform for some extra space in the rear — an aspect blatantly ignored in the Juke.

With Toyota enjoying the title as the "World’s Largest Auto Manufacturer,” It is clear that they will build a rival to any car that enjoys a positive feedback in the market, as long as they stay No. 1 in the market.
