BMW double kidney is the most boring. It hasn't changed. And too many on the road, all look the same.

Your opinion noted, Henry, but you would put the Lincoln Smiley-buck-tooth grilles ahead of the Acura parrot-beaks?

absolutely. the one on lincoln doesn't look good, but acura is just outright ugly

the nx is stretching it imho, but yes it has to do with audience too. on the other hand, on say the ct and is, i don't think they look as good and imho has to do with the size of the car

my point is ugly isn't always relevant as far as sales.

the grill can be as important or even more important (like bmw kidneys) than a company's logo!

but back to ugly the acura grill isn't quite as bad as a few years back. it doesn't benefit the brand though so should be 're-imagined' or redesigned entirely.

haha i am sure there are other reasons for the poor acura sales, but of quite a few people i know, grilles cost them the sales

That's not a distinct grille...but a distinct emblem.

Distinctive grills are one thing, but it can become to much. I haven't been a fan of the spindle since it first came out. At first they just tacked it onto their lineup during facelifts and it didn't look right, a bold front facia, with the same bland body behind it. The grill looks more natural on the newer models as the rest of the lines match the front. I'm still not a fan though.

Mercedes and Audi have less of a distinctive grill and more of a universally recognised emblem.

I agree with most that the worst have been Lincoln and acura recently. Proof that distinctive is not always the best thing...

and that's why merc nails it every time. The outline of the grille could be anything, but that big *** logo stands out.

In the past, merc grilles were also unmistakeable

Now their grilles are becoming amorphous, but with big emblem, and more distinctive grille screen details, which I think are better.
