Default Honda CR-Z supercharger kit launched

Adds 67 bhp

Honda Performance Development has finally launched their supercharger kit for the CR-Z.

Originally shown at the 2013 SEMA Motor Show, the kit fits 2013 and 2014 CR-Z models equipped with a manual transmission. It includes an air-to-air intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors and an optimized ECU. There's also a high-performance air filter and the aforementioned supercharger. Thanks to these modifications, the output rises from 130 bhp (97 kW) to 197 bhp (147 kW).

The supercharger kit costs $5,495 and can be installed at the dealership. Customers can also order a limited slip differential and sport clutch - among other things.

50% boost is nice, but it's a little too late. No one wants to buy a CR-Z anymore.

For the sake of numbers just give it 3 more hp

It's like Lexus and the RX450h 295hp. 4RX better have a 300+hp variant. As the NX pushes it up the latter it's playing in a serious field

for the cost and the age of the available cars I would just buy a different car. Im sure the SC will negate any of the economy

Default Honda CR-Z discontinued in Australia

Model was axed last year from Europe

Honda has announced they are no longer taking orders in Australia for the slow-selling CR-Z.

It was almost a year ago when Honda decided to axe the CR-Z (and Insight) from Europe and now the company has decided to withdraw the model from Australia as well. As a consequence, you can no longer place an order in the Land Down Under for the hybrid hatchback but you might be lucky enough to buy one of the remaining units although the stock is almost depleted.

Still available in United States where it costs $20,935, the 2015 Honda CR-Z has a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine working together with an electric motor and a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional CVT. It has a combined output of 130 bhp & 140 lb-ft and will do 31 mpg city / 38 mpg highway / 34 mpg combined with the manual and 36 / 39 / 37 mpg with the CVT.

Those who need more power can get the manual US-spec CR-Z with an optional supercharger kit priced at $5,495 which lifts output by 67 bhp to 197 bhp. The added oomph can be matched with other upgrades such as a limited slip differential and a sport clutch.

At the moment there's no info regarding a second generation CR-Z but in some ways the upcoming S660 could be seen as an alternative.

The CR-Z is so stupid, I hope Honda got the message that nobody want a 130 hp hatch, it is not 1985 anymore.

With just the existing 200 hp K24 or the up coming 280 hp turbo 4, A LOT more people would buy one.
