Really? It's not entirely successful (the rear window and c-pillar combination needs work) but I think it's stunning. If the production car is 9/10th what this is then visually it will blow the wart-like Panamera away.

The rear end is beautiful for sure - aggressive and refined. The front end... I just don't like it. There is something about Infiniti's new corporate face that to me, lacks the finesse and detail of BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Cadillac or even the Lexus spindle. It really looks like a gaping mouth with angry eyes to me, and the entire shape is rather nondescript. The lower air dam looks like an afterthought.

Looking at the sides, the combination of hard angles and curves just looks like two different cars. These are similar lines to the M, but more exaggerated, and I do not care for them. The shape of the C pillar looks bizarre.

The only thing I really like is the side profile.

Ooooh, I like it

Those rear seats look a little trippy, but comfy.

Side view is almost like the new 7 series concept, esp. the front quarter panel area

It looks cool and all, but I'm usually more impressed by cars that have a prayer of being in production.

Gotta give them props for coming up with a good design (non copy cat). Although in the production model they would have to change the doors and I definitely don't see that beautiful roof staying. Imagine if you get a rock chip on the windsheild you'd have to replace the entire roof, a Porsche buyer might be ok with it but Infinity customers would probably balk at the thought of that.

I think that's the idea.

Based on the higher level of detail/luxury in the back seating area (inclusive of champagne cubby) it looks like they are trying to be a high style limo

Default Infiniti Q80 Inspiration Officially Revealed, Has a 550HP Hybrid Powertrain

Now that the looks of the Infiniti Q80 Inspiration concept are no longer a mystery, we can focus on what’s beneath its flowing bodywork, as official details have just been released.

The Q80 Inspiration does not only preview an upcoming production model and a future styling language, it also anticipates a new range of engines for Nissan’s luxury brand. That’s because the study is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine integrated into a hybrid electric system with a total output of 550 hp.

Infiniti says the new V6 unit previews a family of engines that will be introduced to the brand’s portfolio within the next two years. The Q80 Inspiration’s hybrid powertrain averages around 5.5 l/100km (42.8 mpg US) and emits about 129 g/km of CO2, despite its power and the car’s generous proportions. The study’s smart drivetrain is able to switch from rear-wheel drive to all-wheel drive on demand or depending on road conditions.

The four-door fastback measures 5,060mm (192.2in) in length, 2,010mm (79.1in) in width and just 1,340mm (52.8in) in height, with the latter contributing to its dramatic profile. Inside, the Q80 Inspiration features four individual seats to which passengers get access via wide opening portal-style doors.

The driver deals with a simplified interface and unique head-up display (HUD) that show only needed information. The front passenger also has an HUD for display of external information via a smartphone connected to the vehicle’s telematics system.

At the rear, each rear passenger has a touch screen positioned in the rear of the front seat for entertainment purposes. The quilted leather seats and Alcantara, leather and metal finishes continue the study’s dramatic styling approach in the cabin.

Infiniti says the study also previews its philosophy on autonomous technology, namely that “it should enhance the driver and not restrict them.” Using cameras, lasers and sensors, the technology can be employed by the driver when needed through a button on the left-hand side of the steering wheel.

The autonomous driving technology system suggests courses of action in heavy traffic or in highway mode to the driver via a clever HUD display projected on the windscreen, but the final decision always rests with the driver.

Default Infiniti's Q80 Concept is Japan's Porsche Panamer

At the Q80 Inspiration Concept's world premiere at the 2014Paris Auto Show, Infiniti confirmed its intentions to put a similar car into production within the next few years.

"The Q80 Inspiration concept was born to disrupt the premium sedan category," said Francois Bancon, Infiniti Vice President. "Q80 Inspiration is a concept vehicle, but there is a production intent associated with it. The naming of the car indicates that something like the Q80 Inspiration will be in our portfolio of the future."

Bacon also mentioned that the Q80's sculptural styling, which was largely the work of the brand's design center in London, will inspire all of Infiniti's future products.

The Q80 Inspiration is an imposing, four-seater, fastback model with a length of 5,060mm (199.2 inches), a width of 2,010mm (79.1 inches) but a height of only 1,340mm (52.8 inches).

Portal-style doors open to show a pillarless side profile and a nicely crafted interior for four passengers.

The study introduces a new hybrid powertrain consisting of a downsized twin turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 and an electric motor producing a combined 550hp. According to Infiniti, "the new engine offers a precursor to a family of engines that will be introduced to the Infiniti portfolio within the next two years" to which we'll add, possibly the next Nissan GT-R as well.

Infiniti is pretty bullish about its concept model and the production car it will inspire down the road.

"The fact that we are entering this category, a challenging category from a business perspective, and to do so in such a brave fashion demonstrates Infiniti's confidence," said Bancon. "The body type, the proportions, the smart hybrid powertrain, autonomous technology – it's a highly innovative approach.

"This is the highest portfolio entry for Infiniti and our vision is to compete with a unique approach," he said. "This car is not the traditional premium sedan. It breaks new ground in areas of body sculpturing and passenger hospitality. And, we will introduce a powertrain which affords power responsibly. It's the perfect balance between performance and agility."

Wow, I'll take one in Midnight Mocha please! Nicely done, hope the production version retains the look and atitude.

The designer just hinted "another" car in Detroit. Yup, has to be Q60.
