2015 Lexus RC configurator now online, starts at $42,790
RC F begins at $62,400
The 2015 Lexus RC 350 configurator is now up and running for those willing to pay at least the $42,790 starting price.
For this money you will be getting the rear-wheel drive version while the AWD model kicks off at $45,025. Both of them are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine developing 306 bhp (228 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 277 lb-ft (375 Nm) at 4,800 rpm delivered to the road through an eight-speed automatic gearbox (six-speed for AWD). The rear-wheel drive version does the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 5.8 seconds and tops out at 143 mph (230 km/h).
There are nine exterior paints to choose from and depending on selection Lexus is providing up to eight interior color themes while at an additional cost buyers can add the F SPORT package, 19-inch wheels, Navigation System & Luxury packages, LED fog lamps, 835-watt 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system and park assist system.
Lexus hasn't uploaded the 2015 RC F configurator yet but we already know the model is priced from $62,400. Available exclusively with a rear-wheel drive layout, the hotter version is motivated by a V8 5.0-liter engine producing 467 bhp (348 kW) at 7,100 rpm and 389 lb-ft (527 Nm) at 4,800 rpm. It will do the sprint in 4.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 167 mph (269 km/h).

Lexus LF-C2 concept returns in a more revealing teaser
Debuts in Los Angeles
Lexus has dropped an additional teaser of their upcoming LF-C2 concept which is set to premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The "exciting new open-air concept" will likely be a convertible variant of the RC Coupe since the side profile shows clear similarities between the two. Detail about what powers the concept are not available at this point but it could get a 306 bhp 3.5-liter V6 from the RC 350 or a 2.5-liter teamed up with an electric motor from the RC 300h.
Lexus could decide to squeeze in the V8 5.0-liter from the RC F where it develops 467 bhp (348 kW) and 389 lb-ft (527 Nm). If that's the case, expect the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint to take a few ticks of a second more than the 4.4s needed by the RC F Coupe which is able to hit a top speed of 167 mph (269 km/h).
The Lexus LF-C2 concept will be shown in the flesh later this week at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The production version will likely go on sale in 2016 or early 2017.

Oh, and convertibles are not build by the company but by suppliers and other contractors.

Even with the soft top, it looks like the trunk lid slopes upward to accommodate the roof. That was generally the problem aesthetically with the ISC also. I don't see why bmw can create a horizontal side profile with a hard top
