The Code X LFA is the best indicator of where this is going. There is even an LFA 3 in planning stages. Lexus has had great success with the Code X in racing.

It will have a 5.3 Liter V10 + electric hybrid motor most likely.

Let's look at the following sentence from Akio:

"At some point, there may be another special car for another generation."

"At some point" means they are not ready to provide a time frame.

"May be" is a common way of giving yourself an out in case the project goes nowhere.

"Another generation" is the language that concerns me, as they are just getting traction regarding putting younger butts in Lexus seats and getting to critical mass for an extremely high price hyperbole car my be another 10 years from now.

Templin was clear Lexus is building the LFA for THIS generation. I would expect LFA 2 to be revealed in the latter half of 2015 with production somewhere in 2016. Actually, the LFA 2 has been in the works for at least over a year. Tanahashi had confirmed his next project to be LFA 2 over a year ago (plus the test mules around Nurburgring etc.)

While I like the LFA, it is not attainable to me. Me being the selfish guy that I am, bring me a $100k Lexus or Toyota Supra that is a GTR competitor. That is what I want, at least that is somewhat attainable and is what I would definitely buy.

Rolla, the time frame you laid out would put the LFA2 ahead of the LF-LC based car.

That ain't gonna happen.

There is a rumor (and in my opinion, evidenced from the video I posted above), Lexus is planning some crazy revs from the 5.3 Liter V10. Somewhere in the 10,000+ rpm region to extract a lot of N/A horsepower in addition to the electric motor.

I would not be surprised since LFA was the first to get into the 9000+ rpm game for super cars so Lexus might be planning on upping the game again.

Agreed. If the LC comes to production, itll be before an 'LFA 2'. 2017 is my guess for that car. I dont think a new LFA would be here in the next few years. Probably closer to 2020 if its made.

Agree. LC first then the LFA II. I do not expect the car to be here before 2020. Unless of course they are planning a facelift of some kind, similar to what they did with an LS? Just knowing Lexus, if they are starting from scratch, it will take them years to finish. Especially when they are working on a car like the LFA, there is simply no room for errors. They know that the next one should be better not worst or the same.

So we think the 'LFA II' will be a F12, Vanquish, Aventador sort or venture into the P1, 918, LaFerrari realm? Mix of both?

My guess is, it will be a mid-front engine that will go into the P1, 918, LaFerrari realm. Akio Toyoda had been really inspired by the 918 and its hybrid technology.

A nice read...

.Sorry, you have been lied to about the next-gen LFA, and here is the proof. Now, about that LF-LC …

Yeah that is indeed the problem. $375k supercars just aren't attainable by mere mortals. You pretty much have to have made many millions in a short period of time or make $1M/year+ regularly, both of which are extremely rare. So that basically leaves hedge fund managers, management consulting partners, Fortune 500 SVPs/EVPs and maybe top echelon physicians (neurosurgeons, spine surgeons) and lawyers.

There are millions of millionaire's and only about 1,000 billionaire's in the world.

Definitely exciting to see a 2LFA come out from Lexus...
