Default First Nissan Skyline GTR Imported into America 100 Percent Federally Legal

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/first-...110000881.html

Palm Harbor, FL / ACCESSWIRE / Aug 2, 2014 / Montu Motors, an automotive importer specializing in Japanese classic cars, is pleased to have become the first company to successfully import into the U.S. a 100% legal Nissan Skyline GTR R32.

Due to the specifications of certain governmental regulating agencies like the EPA, DOT, NHTSA, and FMVSS, historically it has been illegal to import the Nissan Skyline GTR R32 and numerous other high-performance Japanese cars. However, a stipulation states that any cars that are 25 years old or older are not required to abide by these regulations and can therefore be driven legally in the United States.

Montu Motors pulled up to the United States/Canada border in a Nissan Skyline GTR R32 at exactly 12 o’clock midnight on August 1, 2014, making their crossing precisely 25 years after the vehicle left the factory in 1989. Now this classic racing car that dominated competition for so many years is finally available to the American public. Auto enthusiasts and fans of The Fast and the Furious will recognize the Skyline GTR R32 as one of the most prized automobiles of the 1980s and 1990s, and finally they will be able to own one for themselves, thanks to the 25 year rule.

Equipped with the RB26DETT, arguably one of the best motors ever built, the Skyline GTR R32 offers exceptional performance, power, and speed. One of the most unique features of the Skyline GTR R32 is the ability to transfer up to 50 percent of the total power from the rear wheels to the front wheels, providing the driver with an unparalleled sensation of control and a highly enhanced feel for the road.

Importing the Nissan Skyline GTR R32 marks the beginning of Montu Motors’ efforts to provide U.S. citizens with the most unique and desirable classic Japanese vehicles. More cars will follow soon.

About Montu Motors:

MontuMotors specializes in importing Japanese classic cars, which are imported into the United States by MontuMotors. Their vehicles are 100% exempt from EPA, DOT, NHTSA and FMVSS due to their age. I know Canada allows this (the used car dealer lobbiests are trying to make it illegal), when did the US start allowing this?

They may not be 100% federally legal but people/sellers have been importing or bringing Skyline GTR's into the US for a while, I have seen a couple R34's and older models driving on US roads or at car meets.

I believe US was allowing this from before. It just had to be 25 years old or older. R32 finally became 25 years old recently. I might be wrong though.

So what's the fine line?? I live in st pete, and frequently go to tampa.ive seen atleast 20 real skylines/aristos/Silvia's that are not near 25 years old ....plus you get on Craigslist and type in rhd and you see a bunch of cars that say "titled and registered" are those cars not "100 percent legal" what's the loop here??

can be many factors...vin swaps, knowing someone in the DMV, etc.

you'd be surprised at home many skylines there are in the US that have 240sx titles
