I have two years left, its a 4 year lease. So I'll be 2019... Not sure what I will do, I very well may buy this and keep it, or I might get into an SUV next time, or may do another LS or other flagship car. The LS500 test for me will be the ride, does it sacrifice comfort for sportiness? Thats the real test for me.

For me....right now, it's probably a three-way tie between a 2017 or 2018 Buick LaCrosse, Lexus ES350, or Lincoln MKZ (I usually get a new car every 5-6 years). The Continental, though tempting, is a little big and bulky for my condo space. I'm disappointed with the LaCrosse's E-shifter and non-defeatable stop/start system, though....could be a deal-breaker. The ES has the annoying zig-zag lever motion I don't care for, but, at least, like the MKZ's buttons, it's a standard PRNDL pattern....not a spring-loaded stub-lever that often pops right back into the middle, leaving you guessing or following a trail of flashing lights.
Again, we'll see.

now that everyone has had their laugh at the word panache, i do think that the 5ls looks stunning in black! i'm sold on the car in that color, even if i'd never purchase a black car -- too much work to maintain.

Just dont get black on black or you might be mistaken for an Uber driver.

Not necessarily. But, like it or not, it is in fact a credible competitor to the LS....at least in its overall execution. Now, whether people actually buy or lease it is an open question that only time will tell.

Not everyone cares about brand and prestige, especially these days and especially when both cars are very comparable, if both cares are comparable but one costs much less and even has a V8 I can see many going for the G90 over the LS and not caring that Lexus is more prestigious. The LS will not be on the same playing field as the new S class or 7 series on brand and prestige either, to many it does not matter.

As long as they're good looking & well functional, then they will sell well.
Although Genesis G90 falls well short on badge, I still don't feel that styling is adequate to sell well relative to its peers like the original 2007 release of the 4LS.
