that's really refreshing to hear. i think that it might be an issue in status-conscious southern california. perhaps not, though. i'm not sure. i know that if i were to get a g90, iwould get questions as to why Iididn't purchase car x, y, or z instead.

To be fair, I've always gotten those questions about owning a Lexus.

For some people none of that matters, what matters is the brand

I would say that people have started to realize that the brand has come a long way. Around the DC area I see a lot more than I used to. SW15LS and mmarshall can probably say the same since they are around here also. Not all about brand status on this side of town, I spend a lot of time in Silicon Valley also and I see the difference.

Yeah I see Hyundais and Kias everywhere.

no, certainly not, but they were around. that aside, hyundai and kia still have a reputation to shake amongst certain socioeconomic circles. they have not been successful in ridding themselves of their image of yore despite their recent commercial success.

a brand...or even a luxury brand for that matter.

Im guessing the "image is everything" ideal, once coined by Andre Agassi via the Conon marketing slogan, is much deeper than I thought it to be.
Once I sat inside the G90, I was amazed as was just about every single person who sat in the car while I was in it or around it.
Bottom line is, its a beautiful car on the inside and not too shabby on the exterior. For the Genesis brand to have to start somewhere, I'd say the last two iterations-the 80 and 90, are pretty good humble beginnings.
Im wondering though, if the coming of the new LS will change peoples mind about the LS being bland, boring and the "poor mans S-Class", and the G90 make believers out of people regarding their auto brand loyalty as the LS did back in the 90's.

Brand is very important factor in this price and class range.
Just think about Louis Vuitton vs Coach.
You can argue that Coach bags can match LV in almost everything, such as style, look, quality, and functionality, but brand name set them apart.

And what is so wrong with that? I still consider Lexus a high end Toyota. Lexus has Toyota DNA in everything they do.
