I have always wanted to test drive the 2014. Now of course, I would test the 2015. I think it is a very sharp looking car and I think Ford has been paying attention in general over the past few years.

2015 Ford Edge starts at 28,995 USD (US)
Has identical price tag with the 2014 Edge
The refreshed 2015 Ford Edge will be available in the USA at a starting price of 28,995 USD (23,165 EUR) with an 895 USD (715 EUR) destination charge included.
Ford spokesman William Mattiace has told Edmunds the Sport version will be sold for 29,495 USD (23,965 EUR), including shipping. Compared to the outgoing 2014 Edge, the facelifted SUV comes with identical price tag. Prices for SEL and Titanium trim levels will be announced soon. The model will reach the dealerships in the first quarter of 2015.
In North America, the SUV will be sold with a standard 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 245 bhp (183 kW) and 357 Nm (270 lb-ft). The Sport variant will be powered by a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with more than 300 bhp (224 kW) that benefits from an adaptive steering system. A naturally-aspirated V6 3.5-liter will also be available.
All these engines will work with a 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with a SelectShift manual mode. The base 2.0 EcoBoost will be available exclusively in front-wheel drive configuration, while the 2.7-liter and 3.5-liter models have an optional all-wheel drive system.

Ford has previewed a longer, seven-seat version of its Edge crossover, tailored specifically for the Chinese market. Making its world premiere at the Guangzhou Auto Show, the new three-row Ford Edge offers full seven-seat capability for customers in China.
This new version of the Ford Edge will be manufactured locally by Changan Ford starting in 2015 and sold through the joint venture’s dealerships. Compared with the global version of the Edge unveiled in June in Detroit, the Edge for China adds a third row of seating and other features “tailored specifically to the needs of customers in China.”
While Ford doesn’t mention dimensions, the seven-seat Edge is longer than the five-seat version, which is obvious when comparing the two vehicles’ third lateral window, considerably longer on the China-spec model.
Furthermore, the tailgate of the seven-seat version is more upright. However, the wheelbase doesn’t seem to be longer, with Ford adopting the more cost-effective solution of lengthening the rear overhang to obtain more space for the third-row seats.
“Creating and producing the three-row Edge for China shows how carefully we are listening to our customers here. Our research indicates that premium SUV customers in China are looking for more space and comfort. By building on the global Ford Edge, we have been able to deliver that with this vehicle,” said Ford Motor China President John Lawler.
In China, the Ford Edge will be offered exclusively with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 petrol engine estimated to produce more than 300 hp. Ford didn’t say whether the seven-seat Edge will be offered on other markets outside China, but promised it will share further details of the new model closer to its 2015 launch.

Ford has announced the final performance specifications for the 2015 Edge Sport.
While the company previously said the crossover would produce more than 300 bhp (224 kW), Ford has just confirmed the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine will develop 315 bhp (235 kW) and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque. The automaker also revealed the model will have an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 18 mpg city / 27 mpg highway / 21 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 17 mpg city / 24 mpg highway / 20 mpg combined with all-wheel drive.
As a refresher, the Edge Sport features a sportier styling and a sport-tuned suspension with beefier anti-roll bars, stiffer springs and unique rear dampers. The model also rides on 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with magnetic low-gloss painted pockets.
The sporty styling continues in the cabin as there's perforated leather / suede sport seats, aluminum pedal caps and faux carbon fiber trim. Other notable highlights include ambient lighting, a Sony audio system and an infotainment system with an 8-inch display.

Lexus Test Driver
Love what I see. One of the last mid-level SUV's that does not have swoopy and saggy lines all over the place. Would have liked to have seen 20/29 mpg's like on the unassisted Acura MDX V6. But overall, this would be #1 my list if I were currently in the market. The Sport expecially looks good.
On a separate note, I wonder how well this unit would do as a police/highway patrol cruiser compared to the Explorer. I know one is RWD and one is FWD, but the smaller and slightly more efficient package here could be a benefit for some agencies (?).

Set to go on sale this spring, the redesigned Edge features an evolutionary design and a variety of new and improved engines including:
A 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 245 bhp (182 kW) and 275 lb-ft (372 Nm) of torque
A 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 with 280 bhp (208 kW) and 250 lb-ft (338 Nm) of torque
A 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 315 bhp (235 kW) and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque
Following its North American launch, the Edge will eventually be exported to more than 100 countries including those in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
In a statement, Ford President of the Americas Joe Hinrichs said “The all-new Ford Edge is a true global vehicle and a showcase of Ford’s product excellence." He went on to say “Thanks to the new capabilities at Oakville Assembly, the 2015 Edge delivers improved driving dynamics, quality, quietness, interior space and even more technology, and we are proud for our Canadian team to start bringing Edge to customers in even more markets around the world.”

Both the Explorer and Edge are FWD/AWD platforms. Explorer is preferred because it shares components with Taurus, which some fleets/police departments also use.
