Default LX may gain a diesel...

Couldn't find a relevant thread on the LX here in carchat so....

Company is in "deep discussions"

The Lexus LX features a potent 5.7-liter V8 engine that develops 383 bhp (286 kW) and 403 lb-ft (546 Nm) of torque but it's not exactly fuel efficient as it returns 12 mpg city / 17 mpg highway (US). To fix that problem and expand its appeal, the company is reportedly considering a diesel variant.
While nothing is official, Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley told Drive "In that large SUV there’s a certain market demand for an LX diesel and, whilst we haven’t confirmed it, we are certainly in deep discussions trying to source it."
There's no word on which engine could be used but the Land Cruiser's 4.5-liter (4461cc) V8 turbodiesel engine - that develops 261 bhp (195 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque - could be an option.

Lexus has managed to increase sales of the GX dropping the price and giving it a facelift.

Can Lexus pump up some sales with a diesel? I have no experience with a tomoco diesel, but it has to be really good in order to compete against the Germans...

A friend of mine used to own Thai made Toyota Hilux Diesel in Cambodia. The crappiest of a bunch, Hilux, Nivara and Triton. Not only other Diesel is more powerful and reliable, but they are more suitable for Off-Roading as well.

The Lexus LX is selling better than ever, just not in the US. I also doubt the diesel would ever make it to the US, i would think you are more likely to see a Hybrid version if they ever decide to do one, which i think they are planning to do in the next couple of years or so.

The Lexus LX easily outsells the LS and GX worldwide. Lexus is giving it more attention than ever. I am sure they hard at work on a next gen LX that will be AMAZING.

I think they'll go direct injection and FI before they go diesel, at least in the US.

A diesel LX will never make it to the US. It will be too expensive and the 5.7 is a far, far, far, far superior engine.

The engine is not what stops the LX from having better sales, its the smaller design, rear axle, poor rear seats, terrible hatch (for US market, but I like the design personally) and it really is too expensive.
