Didn't know the new Vitara was already on sale (of course it wont be in the US). My daughter had a 2013, but it was totaled last year.

i have been seeing it for past month around here... base model is priced pretty awesome, better than base Auris here.... mid spec is a bit expensive but with some discount it isnt bad... overall car seems like a great value.

I'm a bit late but found one today... I actually really like it. This one is an EXL w/ NAVI. MSRP of $25,470.

Size comparison to the Crosstour...

I was especially impressed with the HR-V review this guy (Alex) did. I like his style...he explains the vehicle throughly, and does his homework.

saw one on the road, assume it was low end trim (tiny cheap wheels). have to say it looked REALLY cheap and boring.

My quick 2 cents of my most recent evaluation vehicle:

The Honda HR-V was a great around town vehicle for the past two weeks, being both comfortable and competent. Positives include unsurpassed segment leading interior functionality and flexibility thanks to its rear Magic Seat and great visibility. Feature wise it would be nice to see a power driver seat, especially given the $27,000 price tag of this top line EX-L Navigation trim. Power and CVT transmission rubber band tendencies also left a bit to be desired. My observed fuel economy of 22.6 miles per gallon was well short of the 27 city EPA rating.

What gives? Did you rent one for a couple of weeks? Or have you gotten one for yourself?

Nope, I constantly evaluate vehicles as part of my job and I'm generally in them for a week or two at a time. Just have typically been too busy to do any formal, extended write ups.

22.6mpg is terrible unless you sat at traffic lights a heck of a lot.

I do live in LA.... but yes, lots of dense city traffic and my propensity to drive with a heavy foot contribute to pretty terrible fuel economy. That said, I found the Honda Pilot we had extremely fuel efficient, especially given its size, even more so than the recent Kia Sportage SX with 2.0T engine, which achieved fuel economy similar to this HR-V.
