It's the widest, the heaviest, and the body panels make it look huge and in a size class above where its intended to be positioned. Nice to pick out one spec where its "smaller" than the others (even though you got the exact numbers wrong). It's also considered to be a "mid-size" car by the EPA, which is where the Sonata is positioned. It's too big and bulbous and wavy to be a compact car. But hey, if you like it so much, go buy one 
. Just because I brought some facts into the conversation doesn't mean I like the car so much I want one. It's just annoying when people make these wild posts based off thin air. I don't like compact cars that much but I do find the exterior design of the Elantra to be unoffensive.I actually pulled the numbers from the manufacturer's website for other cars...only correction I need to make is that Hyundai lists the Elantra at 179.1, which still makes my post accurate. It's not the widest, its as wide as its competition with the exception of the Civic. The Elantra isn't even the only car considered midsize out of your list. Only the Civic carries that distinction. Furthermore, the heaviest Elantra variant is only 13lbs. heavier than the heaviest Civic variant. Here's some other specs for perspective that show you its still not really any bigger than the competition, all from the manufacturer's website:

Leg room (F/R): 42in/36.2

What is perhaps most impressive is that the Civic is packaged very well.

Where you are terribly wrong in however is exterior sizing of this car.
How it compares:

Elantra: 178.3 in. 69.9. 56.3. 2895 lbs
Corolla: 182.6 in. 69.9. 57.3. 2887 lbs
Mazda3: 180.3 in. 70.7. 57.3. 2889 lbs
Cruze: 181.0 in. 70.7. 58.1. 3170 lbs
Civic: 179.4 in. 69.0. 56.5. 2802 lbs
Jetta: 182.2 in. 70.0. 57.2. 3103 lbs
Focus: 178.3 in. 71.8. 57.7. 3045 lbs
Forte: 179.5 in. 70.1. 56.5. 2948 lbs
Dart: 183.9 in. 72.0. 57.7. 3293 lbs
Sentra: 182.1 in. 69.3. 58.9. 2913 lbs
The Elantra has the tidiest dimensions and among the lowest weight. These are mainly specs from Motortrends Compact sedan test of 2014. They used a fully loaded Limited Trim level for this test. Car and Driver listed the weight of a pre-refreshed Elantra Limited at 2749 lbs but I chose not to use that weight listing.

Hyundai Elantra Coupe dropped in the United States - report
Kia Forte Koup will live on
Hyundai Motor America spokesman Jim Trainor has confirmed the Elantra Coupe is being dropped in the United States.
Speaking to Edmunds, Trainor said the model is being discontinued so the company can "focus on Elantra sedan and Elantra GT."
While it's sad to see the model go, the Kia Forte Koup has been given a reprieve and will stick around for at least another year.
As a refresher, the Elantra Coupe was billed as a "fun-to-drive" model that featured a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that developed 173 bhp (129 kW) and 154 lb-ft (208 Nm) of torque.

So sick of this ugly car. Isn't it supposed to compete with the Civic, Corolla, Sentra, etc? Why is this thing so huge? 
It's practically bigger than the Sonata. And this styling theme has been tired for at least a year now. Hopefully Hyundai will do to this car what they did to the Sonata and change its looks completely for the next generation. This design should not "evolve", it needs a complete overhaul in my opinion
