What's up with that purple/blue light? Customizable?

Current word says that is the default DRL when the lights are off. Not sure how I feel about that.

Hmm... doesn't seem like it would be very visible from distance in that color.

The blue color comes on initially when you walk up to the car, its like a welcome light. Then it turns white. The yellow must be the turn signal.

The new C class does the same thing, there was a video, ill try to find it.

Cannot see the transition of the color but you get the gist

Default 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS lineup facelift officially revealed with Multibeam LED headlig

All engines are now Euro 6 compliant

Mercedes-Benz has fully revealed the 2015 CLS facelift, following a teaser released earlier this week.

The main highlight of the moderately revised CLS is the addition of Multibeam LED headlights equipped with 24 individually-controlled LEDs automatically adjusted 100 times per second by using a camera and four control units. The high-tech system is capable of detecting oncoming vehiclesand can automatically adjust the light beam so that it won't affect traffic participants. Moreover, the headlights can also detect upcoming bends and illuminate them ahead of time while the navigation system will detect roundabouts and then the headlight beam will be modified to provide optimal visibility.

A CLS 220 BlueTEC has joined the range with a 2.1-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine delivering 170 PS (125 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). The same motor develops 204 PS (150 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) in the CLS 250 BlueTEC while a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 258 PS (190 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) is offered in the CLS 350 BlueTEC.

There's also a new CLS 400 (replacing the CLS 350 CGI) equipped with a V6 3.0-liter bi-turbo engine (although the press release says 3.5) which produces 26 PS (19 kW) and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) more than its predecessor, granting an output of 333 PS (245 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft). Up next is the CLS 500 with 408 PS (300 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft), while the AMG-powered CLS and CLS Shooting Brake continue with a V8 5.5-liter bi-turbo delivering 557 PS & 720 Nm and 585 PS & 800 Nm in the S-Model.

Opt for the CLS 220 BlueTEC, CLS 250 BlueTEC, CLS 350 BlueTEC or CLS 500 and you can order Mercedes-Benz's 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission which promises to slash fuel consumption while "enhancing shift comfort and agility." It is important to mention all engines now meet the Euro 6 emissions standards.

It takes a keen eye to spot the visual tweaks brought to the refreshed CLS lineup but we do notice the front bumper has slightly larger air ducts, the front grille has received a diamond pattern while at the back the taillights have a darker tint. On the inside there is a new eight-inch free-standing color display, together with an updated three-spoke steering wheel and other minor enhancements.

Default New LED Headlights Don’t Dramatically Change Facelifted Mercedes CLS

While Mercedes says the full-LED headlights it uses for the facelifted CLS are “futuristic,” we’d call them quite conservative (compared to Audi’s LED Matrix) and part of a generally very subtle mid-life makeover that it just received. It’s a similar story inside, where you’d have to have owned the non-facelifted model to spot the changes.

Mercedes’ new nine-speed automatic gearbox is also part of the package, being used on all engines but the top-spec AMGs, including the new CLS 220 BlueTEC with 168 hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) – it’s probably not the best one to buy, though. If you want the four-pot efficiency plus a fast(er diesel) Merc, then the manufacturer also offers a CLS 250 BlueTec with 201 hp and 500 Nm (368 lb-ft). The latter can also be had with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

Another new engine can be found under the bonnet of the CLS400 model. It sports a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that makes 330 hp and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft).

At the top of the range sits the AMG model. It’s powered by an untouched version of the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, making the same 549hp or 577 hp as before.

Mercedes says the standout feature of the facelift are the headlights. Called Multibeam LED, these can “provides an active light function, which is also camera-controlled, with unprecedented characteristics. For instance, it offers a preview function which already swivels the active light function when the driver has yet not turned the wheels.” It even has a special roundabout function that prevents the cornering function from failing when one is approached.

Visibly different is the entire front end, with special emphasis on the less aggressive bonnet than before, though you only really spot the differences if you put old and new side by side.

For owners of the previous car, the addition of a revised 8-inch display inside is welcome, and the sporty three-spoke steering wheel (also new) looks quite attractive…

Damn, AMG interiors are insane

As for the cls being the 4 dr coupe thing, fine. But what's the point of a CLS wagon when there's a more versatile E wagon???
