Default Automobile Magazine Fires Jean Jennings

Giving credence to yesterday's rumor, Automobile magazine's Michigan offices have been closed, 90% of its staff has been let go, and the Editor-in-Chief, Jean Jennings, has been fired. This comes along with Source Interlink, owner of Motor Trend, apparently closing other magazines.

One by one.... It was sadly very apparant to me during SEMA this past year many still don't grasp social media. Paying 6 grand for a one page ad that someone just ignores or flicks past is no longer attractive nor effective.

^ no one said it was. Jean Jennings is one of those important women figures connected with the Automotive Industry along with names like Mary Barra, Julie Hamp, Trudy Hardy and Elena Ford. So it's just sort of sad

Look at the drive netwrok, a few years ago they were a plain youtube channel. They just got a show on nbc sports...

Nothing is permanent.

Well, if Top Gear ends up firing Clarkson, there might be a vacancy for her, though I don't know how she would feel about packing up and moving to London..not to mention getting used to driving on the left side of the road in right-hand-drive cars.

She would transform the show into a English motorweek.

well, it also helps that they have to pay their writers a lot more than automotive blogs or youtube reviewers that basically work for "free".

Just got an email from them explaining their new plans, it's a big re-org and launch of "ten". I assume they will have a press release soon.

I enjoyed reading JJ's column. She is funny, self deprecating, irreverent and knows the car business.

A sign of the times though.
