Default Test drove the Chevy SS today

I am thinking about buying the new stingray vette so I went to the dealer today to drive one. Turns out they did not have any , but they did have an SS . The salesman insist I test drive it and who am I to argue with him. So he moved a few cars and drove it right off the showroom floor then off we went. All I can say is dayummmm. I have owned some 650+ rwhp cars so I am no stranger to fast cars. And altho this was no 10 or 11 second car, it was crazy fast for a 47k dollar sedan. The interior was very nice especially for a chevy with red stitching and suede even on the dash. The salesman let me go as fast as I wanted. So i dropped the hammer as we entered the highway , 45-100 roll was just nasty. I urge anyone looking for a fast , fun sedan to consider it. I am thinking a black on black SS and a black on black stingray would fill a 2 car garage very nicely.

This is your last chance to own one of Australia's finest automobiles (before the General Motors Australia factory in Melbourne, Victoria closes down in the next 3-4 years)

Full power, mate

Black on Black SS sounds nice. Glad you enjoyed your test drive and I'm happy to hear the cabin is decent

Thanks...nice post.

Did you think it was worth 47K? That's a good hunk of cash for a Chevy sedan, albeit a large, fast, and nicely-done one. I ask because I will probably review one myself before too long.

I'm surprised the salesman let you hammer it (assuming you did hammer it all the way) , especially if it had less than about 500 mies or so on the odometer. Although break-in procedures aren't quite as critical today as in the past, a brand-new engine still shouldn't be floored or exceed about 4500 RPM for at least several hundred miles.

car had about 20 miles on it, he said there was no break in period when I asked him. And yes I think it's worth the 47 grand. The car is very well designed and the quality of the finish inside and out is outstanding imo. The exhaust note is the best i have ever heard from a sedan. I havent been able to stop thinking about it since my test drive .

Sounds like that salesman knew what he was doing. But I'd still try to get a test drive of the Vette.

Nice review. I've stopped posting most of my reviews here so I'll keep my 2 cents short. Really good drive, even with the attempts to touch up the interior the price is tough to swallow and while the G8 looked fresh 6 years ago this now looks old. But it is truly a wonderful large muscle car.

Those tiny 2006 IS250 rims are a shame. Car deserves something from this decade.

I wonder if it has something to do with the transmission. Although different cars, the 2010 camaro ss(manual) I test drove a while back didn't feel all that fast. I'm sure they both have the LS3 motors but I was expecting to be pushed back into my seats like the LS2 GTO.

Those wheels look tiny. Here the Commi SS V8 comes with big wheels

This thing needs 19" as a minimum

But having said that these things are brutal monsters
