30th Anniversary BMW M5 To Pack Around 600 Horsepower
It’s been 30 years since the first BMW M5, the E28, was shown at an auto show in Amsterdam, and to celebrate the milestone BMW M has something special planned for this year. Though it’s yet to be confirmed, the special surprise is expected to be a new 30th anniversary M5, to be revealed at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed next month, and according to the latest reports the car will be packing around 600 horsepower.
The information was first reported by Dutch website Autovisie, which also claims that BMW will make an official announcement regarding the car as early as next week.
The most potent M5 at present is the 2014 M5 equipped with a Competition Package. This model has 575 hp as opposed to the stock version’s 560 hp, and will sprint to 62 mph from rest in 4.3 seconds, though it's still slower than rivals. With 600 or more horses on tap, the 30th anniversary M5 should finally be able to fend off the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S- Model and perhaps even the upcoming2016 Cadillac CTS-V.

BMW M5 30th anniversary special edition to have 600 PS - report
Could be unveiled in June at Goodwood FoS
Dutch media is reporting the BMW M5 30th anniversary special edition will pack as much as 600 PS (441 kW) or even more.
It was almost a year ago when we published a photo of a mysterious BMW M5 (F10) prototype spotted near the M factory in Garching carrying a "30 Year Limited Edition" sticker on the dashboard. That car is expected to see the light of day next month at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the M5.
Official details about the high-performance German sedan are not available at this point but Telegraaf says the car will offer at least 600 PS (441 kW) from its V8 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged gasoline engine.
The aforementioned sticker also said "1 of 300" which can only mean BMW will cap production at 300 units.
An official announcement is expected to occur as early as next week.

Will be unveiled later this year
The BMW M5 30th anniversary edition has leaked to the web ahead of its debut later this year.
Looking instantly recognizable, the 30th anniversary edition will be distinguished by a Frozen Dark Silver Metallic exterior with dark chrome accents and 20-inch alloy wheels with a jet black finish.
Interior changes are also limited but will include Merino leather and Alcantara seats, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and dark aluminum trim. The model will also have 30th anniversary badging on the seats and dashboard.
Besides the styling tweaks, the car will be equipped with the Competition package that includes a sportier suspension, a revised M Dynamic mode and black chrome tailpipes.
Under the hood, the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine has been massaged to develop 600 PS (441 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 40 PS (29 kW) and 20 Nm (14 lb-ft). It will reportedly be connected to a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission that should enable the sedan to rocket from 0-100 km/h in less than 4.4 seconds.
The M5 30th anniversary edition will be shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and speculation suggests it could be unveiled at the M Festival next month.

Rumor around town is that the new AMG "go to" motor will be based on 4.0L TT. This same engine will be used in the upcoming C63 but with bigger turbo's.

Damn, BMW M just raised the bar on itself.
With that said though, I hope these power and torque enhancements would also apply to the regular M5 and M6 ranges..............if ever I want to get one in Black Sapphire Metallic as well as 343M wheels
Also, I can't wait for the LCI/MMC facelift for the BMW M5 and M6

*C&D said that model was slow, but the fastest one still only did 60mph in 4.4sec.

New BMW M5 "30 Jahre M5" Special Edition with 600PS Limited to 300 Units Worldwide
Click here to view more photos
BMW is throwing its hat in the air and shouting "happy 30th birthday M5!" with the release of a new limited edition of the current F10 generation model dubbed "30 Jahre M5", which as you probably have already guessed, translates to "30 Years M5", but sounds way cooler in German when it's linked to a $100k price tag (or somewhere around that region as BMW hasn't released pricing yet).
Only 300 numbered examples will be built for worldwide consumption, all finished in an Individual Frozen Dark Silver shade with dark chrome trim accents, 20-inch bi-color alloy wheels with mixed tires size 265/35 ZR 20 front and 295/30 ZR 20 rear, plus a Merino leather and Alcantara interior with aluminum decor, and special anniversary insignia.
While incorporating the otherwise optionally available Competition Package that includes chassis tweaks such as a 10mm lowered suspension, stiffer anti-sway bars and a reprogrammed M Dynamic Mode (MDM), BMW went one step further by tweaking the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine's management system and increasing charge pressure.
As a result, output is lifted by 40PS (39hp) and 20Nm (15 lb-ft) over the regular M5 for a total of 600PS (592hp) and 700Nm (516 lb-ft) of peak torque respectively.
BMW says the 1,870kg (4,123 pounds) sports sedan that comes as standard with the 7sp dual-clutch DCT passes the 100km/h (62mph) yardstick in 3.9 seconds (regular M5: 4.3 seconds), the 1,000m (0.62 miles) mark in 21.5 seconds and reaches a limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph) or 305km/h (190mph) with the optional M Driver's Package (you didn't think that they'd include it as standard, did you?).
