M5 is hard to beat as an all around Super Sedan.

People can say its too heavy or whatever but the car is an absolute BEAST, handles great on the road and can be fun at the track, and can be used as daily driver.
If i had $100-150k to spend on a 4-door sedan, it would be M5.

E63 is ok but that interior is dated with tiny Nav.
Panamera turbo is about 50k more and looks worse.
S8 would be a great option - amazing car with beautiful interior.

Default BMW Allocates 30 M5 "30 Jahre" Editions to UK, Each Priced at £91,890

The most powerful production BMW model ever offered, the new special edition M5 "30 Jahre" that celebrates the high-performance series' 30th anniversary, is on sale now in the UK.

Pricing is set at £91,890 OTR (equal to US$155,880), which represents a hefty £17,950 (US$30,450) premium over the standard M5 that starts at £73,940 (US$125,425).

If you must have one, you should probably make up your mind swiftly, as the UK will get 30 examples out of a total worldwide run of just 300 units.

In summary, what you get over the regular M5 is an Individual frozen gray paint job with gloss black trimmings, unique 20 inch wheels, an Alcantara and Merino leather interior with aluminum accents, the Competition Package with sports tuned chassis, exhaust and electronic driving aid systems, plus a 40PS (39hp) and 20Nm (15 lb-ft) boost for the bi-turbo V8 that now produces 600PS (592hp) and 700Nm (516 lb-ft).

Default BMW 5-Series Gets New 2.0-Liter Diesels with Up to 188HP/190PS

The BMW 5-Series will be available starting this summer with a new generation of four-cylinder diesel engines with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. Available both on sedan and touring models, the new 2.0-liter powerplants are based on BMW Group’s new modular engine system and are offered with two power levels - 148hp (150PS) in the 518d and 188hp (190PS) in the 520d. In both cases, the power gain is 7hp over previous engines.

The new diesel engines feature an aluminium crankcase with thermally joined liners for optimization of internal friction coefficients, integrated balance shafts, a map-controlled oil pump, a highly efficient turbocharging system with variable intake geometry and Common Rail direct injection with solenoid injectors, with an increased maximum pressure to 2,000 bar.

With the new 148hp engine, the 518d Sedan sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds, while the 518d Touring does it in 9.1 seconds. Average fuel consumption according to the EU test cycle is 4.3 to 4.7 litres/100 kilometers (54.7-50 mpg US) for the sedan and 4.6-5.0 l/100 km (51.1-47 mpg US) for the wagon.

The more powerful 188 hp engine is also offered with the xDrive all-wheel-drive system, both on the sedan and the touring model. Compared with the outgoing engine, maximum torque has been increased by 20 Nm to 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). The BMW 520d Sedan sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, while the BMW 520d Touring needs 0.2 seconds more. Four-wheel drive models cover the sprint in 7.9 seconds (Sedan) and 8.2 seconds (Touring).

Average fuel economy is rated at 4.3-4.7 l/100 km (54.7-50 mpg US) for the 520d Sedan, 4.6-5.0 l/100 km (51.1-47 mpg US) for the 520d Touring, 4.7-5.1 l/100 km (50-46.1 mpg US) for the 520d xDrive Sedan and 5.1-5.4 l/100 km (46.1-43.5 mpg US) for the 520d xDrive Touring. All fuel economy figures correspond to the standard versions fitted with the 6-speed manual gearbox.

Default BMW M5 arrives in Monterey packing 600 hp and matte paint

Click here to view photo gallery

What's a sure-fire way to make a vehicle better? Well, you can add power or make it more exclusive. BMW has done both, just in time to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the legendary M5 sedan.

Only 300 examples of the car you see above, the M5 30th Anniversary Edition, will be sold to the public, and those lucky owners will enjoy the most exclusive, most powerful M5 ever made. Power continues to flow from the standard M5's twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V8, which has had its wick turned up to 600 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The sprint to 60 now happens in just 3.7 seconds, which is still a scarcely fathomable speed among sports cars, let alone comfortable, finely upholstered sedans.

Speaking of that upholstery, Alcantara and leather seats and an Alcantara steering wheel identify the exclusive M5, while special sill plates further call out the car's unique spec. Outside, the standard Competition Package adds 20-inch wheels and black chrome badges, while 30th Anniversary Editions wear BMW's Frozen Dark Silver matte paint.

As we said, only 300 of these higher-performance M5s will be offered to the public. Of those, only 30 will be coming to the US, with every example almost certainly spoken for (orders opened on May 21).

Scroll down for the full press release and stock images, and then check out the live gallery of the latest M5 at the top of the page.

With 644 lb-ft of torque

American BMW tuner Dinan has released a power upgrade package for the M5 (F10).

Work started on the twin-turbo V8 4.4-liter S63 engine which received a bespoke carbon fiber cold air intake as well as a free-flow exhaust system. A DINANTRONICS module was also installed and together with other tweaks has bumped output of the motor to an impressive 675 bhp (503 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 644 lb-ft (872 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm. To refresh your memory, the standard M5 offers 552 bhp (412 kW) and 502 lb-ft (680 Nm).

Besides the power upgrade, Dinan is also offering other modifications such as an adjustable coilover suspension, front and rear tubular anti-roll bars, negative camber control arms and 20-inch lightweight forged performance wheels. Also available are carbon fiber mirror caps and spoiler, an aluminum pedal set, deck lid badge and a serial numbered plaque.

Impressive, and they were able to do all this while still maintaining the factory warranty?

I hope Cadillac debuts the new CTS-V soon, it should have the same supercharged V8 as the Z06 Vette, so 650hp/650lb-ft torque.

The horsepower wars have gone completely insane in the past 3-4 years with the Germans doing these twin turbo V8's(or twin turbo V12 in the top spec Benzes)

Meh, I'd be more impressed if an auto company announced a xx anniversary car that would get 120mpg and 300 HP. So 600, 700,900 or 1000hp means little to me.
