M5 looks so incredibly boring like a regular 5 series. Almost looks like a large version of the E46 3 series. The M6 styling is what the M cars should look like

Default iPE Innotech Exhaust System Makes BMW M5 Sound Meaner

If you're a fan of the F10 BMW M5, then you're probably a little bit disappointed in the way its exhaust system sounds in comparison to the E60 V10's throaty roar.

There are lots of companies that will provide you with killer sounding after market exhaust systems, such as Akrapovic, Eisenmann, Meisterschaft or Dinan to name a few, but this F1 Valvetronic Innotech Performance Exhaust System from iPE might be the best choice for your F10 M5.

It definitely makes the car sound a lot better, especially with the valves open. It's actually close to what an AMG Mercedes-Benz sounds like, maybe a little less throaty, but a bit more dramatic.

The sound level meter in the video shows that the exhaust system reached 110dB, which is quite an impressive value. The complete full turboback system includes catless downpipes, X-pipe and valvetronic mufflers and it will set you back around $8,000.

Default Final US-spec BMW M5 30 Jahre M5 will be auctioned

Only 30 cars built in US specification

The last BMW M5 30 Jahre M5 built in US specification will be auctioned on January 15 in Scottsdale, Arizona by Barret-Jackson.

It was May last year when BMW introduced a special edition M5 "30 Jahre M5" celebrating the 30th anniversary of the model and now it's your last chance to buy the US version. Production is capped at 300 units but BMW allocated only 30 of them for the North American market so most likely many will place a bid in an attempt to own the most powerful BMW model ever made.

It packs a mighty 600 HP (441 kW) punch from an uprated twin-turbo V8 4.4-liter engine which generates a massive 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) torque. All that power is transferred to the rear axle via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox which allows the M5 30 Jahre M5 rocket to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds, making it a substantial 0.4s faster than the standard car.

BMW has electronically limited top speed to 155 mph (250 km/h) but an optional M Driver's Package raises the limiter to 190 mph (305 km/h). It comes with the Competition Package featuring a reprogrammed M Dynamic Mode, a -10mm lower suspension and stiffer anti-sway bars. The additional power of the V8 was obtained by increasing the charge pressure and by installing a revised management system.

Barret-Jackson will action the car on January 15 in Scottsdale, with all proceeds to benefit BMW Club of America Ffoundation. The winning bidder will also participate in an M Driving School program to "better prepare him or her for the thrill of properly driving this important high performance vehicle."

Default Last BMW M5 30 Jahre Limited Edition Model in the US Fetches $700,000 at Auction

The last of the 30 BMW M5 30 Jahre special edition models imported to the United States has been sold for a whopping $700,000 at Barrett Jacksons Scottsdale auction on January 15.

The last unsold example in the US of the most powerful production BMW M5 was acquired by NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick, whose winning bid was $700,000, about five times the retail price of the car ($138,275). All proceeds went to BMW Car Club of Americas Foundation and the Street Survival safe driving program for teen drivers.

As a reminder, the BMW M5 30 Jahre limited edition is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 producing 600PS (592hp) and 516lb-ft (700Nm) of torque - 40PS (39hp) and 20Nm (15 lb-ft) more than the standard BMW M5.

Mated to a 7-speed M DCT dual-clutch transmission, the engine allows the special series BMW M5 to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The car features the Competition Pack that includes chassis tweaks such as a 10mm lowered suspension, stiffer anti-sway bars and a reprogrammed M Dynamic Mode (MDM).

Styling upgrades include the exclusive Dark Frozen Silver paint, black chrome exterior accents, black chrome wheels, black & grey leather interior with suede accents, 30 Jahre M5 logo designations on grille, door sills, door handles, exhaust, and seats, interior badging plaque indicating special edition one of 300 made.

Unfortunately, Rick Hendrick doesnt plan to drive the car at all. He said the new acquisition will join the more than 200 cars in his Concord, N.C., museum, where it will be parked next to a BMW i8 hybrid supercar in the same color.

We were fortunate enough to get the i8 in this color. This babys going to go right beside the i8 in the museum. The only miles its going to get are in the truck, Hendrick said.

so whats so special about this thing, bunch of logos and plaques, more power I could get through a tune, and some simple suspension mods that I could do with aftermarket? Most of that 700k went to charity

Default AMS Performance Will Make You a Very Happy BMW M5 Owner

Click here to view more photos

Having finally broken into the ECU set, AMS Performance is putting together a tuning package that will set your M5's wheels on fire with the help of 643whp and 606 lb-ft.

In case you're still doing the math, that's 93whp more than a stock M5 and over 100 lb-ft of bonus torque. This is still a work in progress and the car they tested on had already had some aftermarket work done on it such being fitted with AMS/Alpha 90mm non-catted downpipes, full Eisenmann exhaust and GruppeM airbox set.

So if you're good with a dynograph, the blue line is the car as it first drove into the garage (with a stock tune) while the red line represents hp and torque after the mods took place. Green line is a factory stock BMW M5.

While the overall gain in power is nothing to laugh at, the maximum torque output of 606 lb-ft (821 Nm) will give it that extra mid range grunt it needs to take on the likes of the all-new Cadillac CTS-V. In fact, we might have just found the perfect specs for an M5 if it were to go up against the CTS-V, otherwise it kind of ends up fighting a losing battle.

For all you autobahn speedsters out there, know that the limiter has been removed, however there's no word on how fast it will go now or how quickly it'll reach 62 mph compared with the 4.3 seconds a stock BMW M5 can manage.

Rick Hendrick is an extremely successful, extremely wealthy, and extremely generous man IMO. He tipped me a total of $600 over his 2 day stay at the hotel I worked at. I was just the guy who greeted him at the door, took his bags up, told him where to eat, arranged the hotel car to drop him off and pick him up. Type of things I do for a normal guest who tips $10-50.

Apparently he really liked shuttle service and the steak place I told him to take his friends to. He tipped me $50 for the luggage, $50 for the ride, and another $500 when he checked out, thanking me for the place I suggested for dinner. I'm pretty sure he sealed some sort of crazy business deal with his dealer buddies at that dinner. We had a national Chevrolet dealer convention at our hotel.

It was kind of funny how some of these other guys were talking about Rick Hendrick though. These were successful men in their own right, guys who owned dealerships. I mean they all admired his success and NASCAR team, but they swore that convention was somewhat like the Godfather, everybody had to go kiss Rick Hendrick's ring.
