Default 2016 Lincoln MKX Crossover

Since it reckons there’s still room, Lincoln will be trying to capture a part of the Chinese luxury sector – the American automaker just made its presence in the country official, promising buyers “an innovative ownership experience unlike any other.”

It is Lincoln’s goal that by 2016 they will have brought over five new models, the first of which will be the MKZ sedan, which arrives this autumn, followed by the MKC crossover, then the Navigator SUV.

These vehicles will reach buyers through a 60-strong dealer network that will not be part of Ford’s – the first eight of these are expected to open in seven cities this fall.

Aside from the launch and inevitable promo, Lincoln also released a teaser video for an upcoming model that is believed to be the new MKX Concept. It looks like a crossover-type vehicle, but we can’t be sure. It could be one of the two vehicles unknown vehicles out of the previously mentioned five.

Check it out below, along with some screenshots that freeze some important frames for more detailed analysis.

Default Lincoln MKX Concept unveiled in Beijing, preview new global production SUV [video]

First Lincoln concept revealed outside U.S.

Lincoln has introduced the MKX Concept today at Beijing Motor Show, announcing the company's intentions to offer a global SUV in the next couple of years.

It's actually Lincoln's first ever concept to be unveiled outside United States and features a very aggressive stance thanks to the large 21-inch alloy wheels together with a short rear overhang while up front is the usual split-wing grille together with LED headlights. Cabin illumination should be great thanks to the large panoramic glass surface of the roof.

Lincoln hasn't released photos of the interior or details about what's hiding underneath its skin which appears to be similar with the Ford Edge concept introduced back in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The production version of the MKX Concept will be out probably in 2015 and will be followed by another all-new model most likely in 2016.

Default New Lincoln MKX Concept is Only a Couple of Steps Away from Production

In a symbolic move that heralds a new era for Lincoln as it opens its first showrooms in China, the brand's first ever world premiere outside the U.S. borders took place today at the Beijing Auto Show with the new MKX luxury SUV Concept.

The car itself likely shares its underpinnings with the next 2015 Ford Edge that was previewed through a concept at last year's LA Auto Show with the exterior styling echoing the lines of Lincoln's latest models such as the MKC SUV and MKZ sedan.

“Great emphasis was put on the proportions of this concept vehicle,” said Andrea Di Buduo, exterior design manager of the Lincoln MKX Concept. “It’s a very emotional, athletic design. Its horizontal lines and defined undercuts are gracefully integrated and very sophisticated, yet convey a powerful and dynamic presence.”

Lincoln didn't part with any photos of the concept's interior nor did it say what plans it has for the powertrain, but as far as the latter is concerned, the brand's EcoBoost turbocharged units should be a given.

Any final version would certainly be toned down, but not bad at all.

Wow!! Looks really good!! Looks like Lincoln has its design language nailed down. You can clearly tell its a Lincoln with the classic snout but its also clearly a quite modern looking!

I'm not a crossover guy, but from a looks standpoint I would prefer this to almost anything else on the road (RX, MDX, etc.) How solid it is in terms of reliability will be a different question.

Yes... until you see this and realize it's the same freakin car and they are not trying to hide it even in a concept form where they can really play with it..

A production version of this along with the compact MKC CUV which launches this summer, would give Lincoln two very nice looking entries. I hope they can reach potential buers with them.

Default Lincoln MKX concept rendered as production model

Slightly toned down

The recently unveiled Lincoln MKX concept has received a digital makeover from X-Tomi Design who envisioned a production model.

Unveiled a couple of days ago at the Beijing Motor Show in China, the MKX concept signals Lincoln's intentions for a new generation of the mid-size, five-seat crossover which will probably see the light of day sometime in 2015. Seen here is a design proposal for a production model from X-Tomi Design who obviously toned down the concept a little bit.

The headlights look more suitable for a series model while the concept's side cameras were replaced with conventional mirrors that have the usual turn signals. In addition, the render shows MKX has received regular door handles and a different chrome bar running on the entire length of the doors.

For the moment it is not known whether the production model will still be based on the Ford Edge as the current generation but we will probably learn more in the coming months.
