Im pretty sure the final version will look different. This is probably a version before the preproduction version.

Default New BMW 7-Series Spied Wearing Full Production Body

Click here to view more photos

Just like a professional exotic dancer [sic], BMW's next 7-Series is slowly pulling down its camo'd garments, cheekily showing us a bit of skin, as the drumbeat for its grand premiere gets louder.

We're still about 9 to 10 months away from its 2015 Frankfurt motor show debut, but for the first time, BMW has released a prototype wearing a full production body and trim on the road, without the fake panels and hidden grille.

The rear-door window line suggests that this could be the long-wheelbase version, with the pictures hinting at a subtly sportier evolution of the current 7-Series' shape and styling with a less rounded, and lower and more aggressive looking front end.

Towards the back, the rear window seems more slanted adding to the more athletic impression that the new G11 / G12 (LWB) codenamed model gives us over today's car.

In our previous scoop story, we saw that BMW's designers used a similar evolutionary approach to the new 7er's interior as well.

The I-Drive controller is still there........so you're not limited to a Touch Screen display.

Anyways, I heard that the V12 Twin Turbo engine will still make it for this next-gen 7 series. Wahoo =)

Default Next BMW 760i Could Get Rolls Royce Wraith's V12

A report that appeared on Spanish site Motores suggests that the next BMW 7-Series flagship will use the Rolls Royce Ghost and Wraith's newer V12 engine for the top of the range model (probably still called the 760i).

The 6.6-liter twin-turbo unit codenamed N74B66 is an offspring of BMW's NB60 6.0-liter V12 found in today's 760i/760Li.

The V12 is said to produce around 600 hp in the BMW, but curiously, the source report suggests it won’t be made available with xDrive all-wheel drive.

At the other end of the engines range, there will be a 730i mode that will get its power from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot with 250-ish hp. Additionally, there will apparently be more than one hybrid version to choose from too – these could be dubbed 730e and 740e.

We’ve already seen the new 7-Series’ interior and its new touchscreen iDrive infotainment display. It looks like fairly typical BMW fare, but the inside was never the issue with the big BMW – the somewhat grotesque exterior styling (especially visible on the pre-facelift current gen car) will be gone, and we hope to have the first really classy looking 7 since the iconic looking E32 of the mid 1980s (the E38 looks nice too, but it’s a tad boring to behold).

Default Next-gen BMW 7-Series could lose up to 170 kg

Thanks to carbon fiber

German media is reporting the next generation BMW 7-Series will lose up to 170 kg (375 lbs).

According to Auto Zeitung, Bavaria's flagship model is going to shave off as much as 170 kg as a result of using carbon fiber reinforced plastic, high-strength steels, aluminum and magnesium in the car's construction. The same source mentions we should expect the 7-Series to have a more balanced weight distribution while the center of gravity will be lowered compared to today's model.

From previous reports we found both the standard wheelbase (G11) and long wheelbase (G12) 7-Series models will be offered with an extensive array of high-tech options including Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system. Also on the menu are laser headlights and an Advanced Parking Assist Package, with the latter likely to be detailed in January at CES.

Set to receive an evolutionary design, the 2016 BMW 7-Series will be offered with a wide variety of engines, including a V12 6.6-liter from the Rolls-Royce Ghost & Wraith which is expected to deliver as much as 600 HP (441 kW). There should also be a couple of plug-in hybrids offering an electric range of up to 62 miles (100 km).

The next generation BMW 7-Series will likely premiere in September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Default 2016 BMW 7-Series speculatively rendered

To feature an evolutionary design

The next generation BMW 7-Series has been rendered once again based on recent spy photos.

This virtual project shows us a conservative exterior design for the high-end limousine that echoes the rest of the BMW lineup. It features a large grille flanked by slightly smaller headlights. The lower end of the front bumper features chromed details and rounded fog lights.

According to recent reports, the 2016 7-Series will be offered with a standard wheelbase (G11) and long wheelbase (G12). The 730i will be the base model and will be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine in the G11 version with 260 HP (191 kW). The 740i and 750i variants will use 3.0 6-cylinder and V8 units respectively, while the 760i will have 6.6-liter V12 with an estimated 570 - 600 HP (419 - 441 kW). Diesel fans can choose from a 730d with about 272 HP (200 kW), and 740d and 750d with more power.

Soft render but it adds some elegance. The lighter weight and the strong powertrains should provide for strong yet supple performance

Looks nice, but like a big 5 series with fancier headlights. Don't see the "gotta have it" factor. I guess BMW decided to stay conservative after their "Bangled" designs of the last gen.

I'm keeping an eye out for the next-gen 760Li with M Sport Package.

I hope it comes out before the 100th Anniversary Celebration of BMW on March 7th, 2016

Thats some massive wheel gap, I thought that pic of the front end was of an SUV not a sedan. As far as I can see, the S Class spanks this car in every imaginable category.

I like it so far.

Granted, the car featured here is currently only a 730d variant and we're not yet sure if this is a base or mid-end configuration. Nevertheless, from what I can see so far, I do like what I'm seeing.

With that in mind, I'm definitely looking forward to the 760Li with M-Sport Package
