Default Engineers use OEM parts for a reason.

Check this video out for test-comparisons between OEM and aftermarket filters.

All the tests I see to either prove or disprove the benefits of the aftermarket filters has the car stationary, hood open or closed and either an external fan running or not. Because of the polar opposite results of these tests with die hards at both ends convincing one is the "truth" over the other, someone needs to change the testing methodology that reflects the real-world usage of your car. Why are people doing the same controversial tests?

Which brings me to this. Do multiple test runs of the car at speed, with various air temp/speed, humidity, and barometric pressure. Keeping all environmentals the same, validate whether an increase in vehicle speed equates to an increase in volumes of colder air entering the filter which in theory would equate to more power. The results of this test I will accept, nothing else.

OEM filter is going to run best with stock ECU mapping. If you want some power out of your larger gone filter, you need to do some tuning at minimum.

Pretty much why I usually stick to OEM whenever I change parts. Only times when I don't is with products that have a pretty substantial reputation, like in the case of my BMW, Koni struts.
