Nissan Debuts Lannia Concept at Auto China 2014
http://reports.nissan-global.com/EN/?p=15077
Nissan premiered the Lannia Concept at Auto China 2014 in Beijing, its latest sedan concept geared towards China’s rising “Post-80s” generation, the ‘balinghou’.

The concept is the second model to be borne from Nissan’s design center in China, which opened the new studio in 2013.

It features signature trademarks of Nissan’s next generation design, including the V-motion grille, boomerang headlamps, a distinctive kick-up pillar, as well as the “floating” roof.

Taiji Toyota, head of Nissan Design China, says the Lannia Concept exudes “daqi” — a Chinese word that is hard to define but has the strength to push people to aspire towards better things.

Watch the video above for more details on the concept.

The Lannia Concept takes center stage at the Nissan booth during the 13th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition which runs from April 20 (the show’s press day) to April 29 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing.

Yeah...so, can a moderator edit and change the thread title to: Nissan Lannia Concept. Thanks.

I'm sorry to say but this is a horrible looking sedan, I can't believe this will be the next maxima.

the proportions are horrible and that quarter panel angle from the back is extremely grotesque.

This blue car won't be the next Maxima. The Maxima is the orange sedan concept car.

Maybe that's why it's not made for your tastes and specifically designed for China. And no, this has nothing to do with the Maxima.

Default Nissan Targets "Post 80s" Chinese Buyers with Lannia Sedan Concept

Nissan’s promised sedan concept for the Beijing Auto Show is the Lannia, a vehicle aimed at the “Post 80s” Chinese generation with styling references to the IDx small coupe studies.

An evolution of the Friend-ME concept, the Lannia is the result of collaboration between Nissan Design China in Beijing and the Nissan Global Design Center, and features “an energetic, sleek and agile design that addresses the tastes and values of contemporary Chinese ‘Post-80s’ trendsetters,” according to Nissan.

“[The] Lannia Concept joins our growing family of China-focused models. It was designed by Chinese, built by Chinese for the Chinese people, and ultimately, for the world,” said Nissan Chief Planning Officer Andy Palmer. The study’s Chinese name (“lan niao, yin xiang") is a tribute to the legendary Nissan Bluebird, whose spirit is said to be reborn with Lannia.

Positioned as a “sedan theory-breaker”, the Lannia features signature trademarks of Nissan’s next generation design, including the V-motion grille, boomerang headlamps, a distinctive kick-up pillar, as well as the “floating” roof. According to the head of Nissan Design China, Taiji Toyota (no joke here), the Lannia Concept exudes “daqi” — a Chinese word that is hard to define but has the strength to push people to aspire towards better things.

The Beijing Auto Show also hosts the Chinese debut of the Nismo brand with the launch of the GT-R Nismo and 370Z Nismo versions. Other exhibits are the BladeGlider concept and Nissan’s Chinese lineup.

What current Nissan sedan would this "replace"? It's a very aggressive design study

Default Nissan's Chinese Hybrid Concept Turned Into 270Z Sporty Coupe

We really liked the look of the Nissan Lania sedan concept, a car that debuted in Beijing earlier this month. It has sharp, aggressive lines that exude muscularity; the only two things wrong with it were the two extra doors it had for rear passengers and the fact that it wasn’t already in production…

The rendering you see here, courtesy of X-Tomi, addresses only one of those issues, the one with the number of doors. What he’s done is take the already low-slung shape of the four-door and stretch it out/flatten it, while also removing the two rear doors in the process.

In the renderer’s vision, this would be for a suitable Toyonbaru rival from Nissan called "270Z", if, that is, they don’t go ahead and take the IDx approach to creating it.

Whichever way they go, Nissan will pretty much be onto a winner, given that they’ve had so much time to study the segment (while not being present).

I'm a little confused. how is this a winner? the body is very awkward but the front end isn't bad.
