sales are compared to 03/2013 not 02/2014 :-)

Chrysler, Ford and Toyota reported March sales increases of 13%, 3% and 5%, respectively, as a bitterly cold winter in much of the country began to thaw.

Nissan said its sales increaed 8.3% in March, while Volkswagen’s fell 3%.

General Motors was to announce its sales res ults at 9:30 a.m., but said they "will be delayed several hours due to a computer systems issue that impacted dealer sales reporting. The company expects to reports its sales this afternoon before the close of business."

The numbers are under more scrutiny than usual because of the recent recalls, most of which focus on a defective ignition switch on small cars from 2003 through 2010 model years.

Chrysler’s sales were led by the Jeep Cherokee SUV and Ram 1500 pickups.

Jeep sales soared 47%, while Ram was up 29%, Fiat, up 24%, and Dodge increased 1%. But Chrysler brand sales fell 23%.
these numbers are unadjusted for DSR

Snow on the ground all winter may have helped that number.

Audi continues to kick butt...

Apr 1, 2014 , HERNDON, Va.
Audi achieves best-ever March sales to set 39th consecutive record month

- Strong demand for Audi A6 and Q7 models set the pace in March 2014
- Year-to-date sales running ahead of record 2013 pace as Audi A3 premium compact models are arriving in the U.S. market
- New A3 bacon edition expected to be unveiled at upcoming New York International Auto Show with unique Alcantara® and swine seating surfaces
- Audi Certified pre-owned sales set 8th straight monthly record

HERNDON, Va., April 1, 2014 – Audi reported March 2014 sales of 14,246 vehicles, which stands as the brand’s 39th consecutive month of record monthly sales.

For the month, Audi sales in the U.S. finished 7.5% ahead of the 13,253 sales recorded in March 2013. Through the first quarter of 2014, Audi U.S. sales stood at 35,228, or 3.0% ahead of the record pace set in the year-earlier quarter.

“What drove the Audi momentum story to its 39th consecutive record month was consistently strong demand across our product line up – particularly for our SUV models and our A6 premium sedan,” said Mark Del Rosso, Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “Add in the tech-forward A3 premium compact sedans after their official sales launch later this week and the outlook for the rest of 2014 is extremely positive.”

Luxury sedan sales remained strong as the Audi A6 increased 26.7% to 2,212 vehicles sold for the month, while year-to-date demand for the A6 increased 24.3% to 5,436 vehicles sold.

March results were bolstered by sales of Audi luxury SUVs, with the Audi Q7 luxury crossover posting a 45.8% gain in March on 1,592 units delivered for the month and year-to-date sales increased 41% to a total of 4,089 vehicles.

yes but at the expense of profit... their cars are usually cheapest of the bunch with highest incentives. Renault-Nissan is huge and their profits are not bad at around $6.7 billion but thats far less than Toyota and even VW.

I got Nissan for my wife as its value was simply the best.

Audi reported March 2014 sales of 14,246 vehicles, which stands as the brand’s 39th consecutive month of record monthly sales.

March 2014 was the 8th consecutive record month for Audi Certified pre-owned vehicles sales with an increase of 13.5%, to a total of 3,886 CPO vehicles sold in the most-recent month, compared to 3,425 models sold a year earlier. That made March 2014 the 2nd best CPO sales month on record for Audi of America. For the first quarter of 2014, CPO sales jumped 13.9% to 10,314 vehicles sold.
Highlights:
- Sales mix for Audi S performance variants finished the month at 15.2% for the S4 sedan; 35.9% for the S5/ RS 5; 5.6% for the S6; 31.4% for the S7 / RS 7; 12.8% for the S8; 31.6% for the TTS / TT RS and TTS Roadster, and 8.3% for the SQ5 crossover.
- Sales of A6 increased to 26.7% compared to March 2013; YTD sales grew 24.3% compared to previous period.

Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported 36,717 units delivered in March.

“We continue to see steady demand for our TDI Clean Diesels as well as our core vehicles,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America. “With the Spring selling season upon us, we expect to see more stability ahead as we lay the groundwork for the launch of the all-new Golf coming later this summer.”

Total Jetta deliveries (including SportWagen) for March accounted for 15,692 units. Volkswagen will debut the 2015 Model Year Jetta at the New York International Auto Show in April. The new Jetta will feature a refreshed exterior, improved fuel economy and a host of new safety and technology features.

The Chattanooga-built Passat deliveries totaled 11,050 units delivered for the month. In March the Passat TDI, the only clean diesel in the midsize sedan segment, delivered 4,549 clean diesels. This marks the best March ever for both Passat and Passat TDI® Clean Diesel.

As Volkswagen prepares for the launch of the all-new family of Golf vehicles, sales of the current generation were 1,989 units. The much anticipated, all-new 2015 model will go on sale later this summer.

The benefits of clean diesel vehicles continue to resonate with consumers as Volkswagen delivered 9,764 units. The company confirmed that the newest, most fuel-efficient, TDI® Clean Diesel engine, designated EA288 will power the 2015 Golf, Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Passat, and Jetta, all of which are set to arrive in dealer showrooms in the second half of 2014.
