Run Flat tires
Run flats were said to be getting better with the promise of a regular tire ride quality and wear.
I guess not.No talk of any improvements.
Great idea but with too many negatives.
Swapped out a set immediately when I owned an '08 GS350.They were awful. Are run flats better today?

BMW still uses them across the board, and cars with urea injection have used the space for a spare to place the urea tank forcing them to use runflats. If anything you will see more and more cars with runflats. And yest they are miserable.

i doubt we will see more and more, some manufacturers like Toyota/Lexus used them 5-6 years ago on many models then phased them out lately.

The ride on both our 11 335i and 12 X5d is excellent, both have runflats. A friend has almost the same exact RFTs on his Mini Cooper S that I have on my 335i, but it's a night and day difference in ride quality. I think the problem is that auto manufacturers are designing their suspensions for regular tires, and then just subbing in RFTs in some markets. Can't do that. You really need to design the suspension specifically for the RFTs, otherwise you'll have bad ride quality issues. There was a suspension update to the 3-series line in 2011 to better handle the RFTs and they're fine on mine. Most all of the complaints I've seen for that particular vehicle come from 2010 and prior. If my 335 rode like my friend's Cooper S does on the same tires, I'd have swapped them out already like he just did on his.

Great car except for the fuel pump issues which caused me to dump it.

I expect the jury will always be out until each owner gets good wear & handling w/o issues. My new C7 came with Michelin's best run flats in basically a track design. 1st car I've ever had with them and so far, they're living up to the claims of really sticky and smooth (but as wide as 'these' are they're really noisy on concrete). I do have a couple cans of 'pump it up & seal it) in a cubby hole just to make me feel better on a trip. I'm not big on extended warranties but I did buy one that covers the tires and wheels (even if I hit a chuck hole). They've upped the tread wear rating on them to 300 which should be a big improvement. Sure hope so

not sure if what i'm about to say will help or is even what the OP is looking for. Took a nail to the right rear tire on my 2014 3IS (well found out it was a nail after taking it in). Got in my car last weekend and started driving. Wasn't till I was already on the highway that I noticed the tire pressure light was on. Looked at pressure and it was down to 16 PSI.
Would not have noticed if I hadn't seen the warning light, car felt normal. No drag or bumpiness. Pulled off the freeway and into a gas station. Tire wasn't sagging either, wouldn't been able to tell it was over half flat looking at it. They Bridgestone low profile tires.

I have them on my Q50
I would say they give up something in terms of ride
I would also say they have held their air pressure amazingly well considering the pothole party Chicago has become this winter
