Lexus's latest commercials & Marketing
Does anyone else not like the new commercials Lexus make? They're pointless, stupid and they make me cringe every time they come on.
When Lexus first started in the early 90s up until the early 000's they had awesome commercial and marketing strategies.
I think instead of promoting the brand and product their new commercials are doing the opposite.

I think Lexus commercials/marketing are suffering because their products haven't had many "wow" type features or numbers lately. The recent refreshes have either merely let them catch up to the competition, or simply slap a new grille on (I'm looking at you 2013 RX and 2014 GX). It's hard to make compelling advertising stories when there isn't much to talk about. No new powertrains, no truly innovative, first-to-market type features, best-in-class etc.
Hopefully they'll start to get some more compelling changes/updates soon.

Yep. I agree. Mercedes has the best advertising.
This is probably my favorite Lexus AD of recent time:
IS350 commercial "Gap" from 2011:

The new ads are just simply terrible.

You are referring to those artsy ads as of late, like for new IS I suppose. Well they are suppose to reflect the edgier styling that Lexus is doing right now.
I mean there is so much you can do with car ads, they are all the same: Our X runs circles around their Y.
And I am not a fan of 2011 IS ad because its the truth stretched like a gummy worm so they could make an ad out of it and claim something by difference or 3hp.

I will agree that Eenie Meenie Miney Go commercials were pretty pointless but I quite like the new December to Remember ones. Not all have been bad. I will also agree that mercedes does them quite well.
Also I don't think Track Honed above ever aired on TV.

I honestly don't get the point of the December to Remember ads. The idea of giving the gift of a new Lexus to your spouse, with a big red bow on it.
I know that there are people in the world with the means to do this but, I think they're few and far between.
It's a nice idea, in theory. But in practice...not so much.
If I brought my wife outside the house on Christmas morning to show her the new Lexus I bought her, with the big red bow on top, she would look at me and say...
"You made a fifty thousand dollar purchase...and didn't even DISCUSS it with me???"
