Jeep looks a lot better than 500L "Trekking".. These small SUVs are very popular in Europe, especially 2008 and Captour but they are also a lot cheaper... this is kind of premium entry in the segment.

The new baby Jeep Renegade offers genuine off-road ability, but is it as good on the road?

Default Here's The Jeep Renegade Screaming, 'I'm A Real Jeep!

As the littlest one of the family, the Jeep Renegade has its work cut out proving it can hang with its siblings.

That's why Jeep has released a series of videos, called Tales of the Trailhawk. It's where Jeep engineers show you the diminutive Renegade Trailhawk (the most offroad-ish of the Renegades) can do what its name suggests.

The three videos show the Renegade tackling water, angles and sand with apparent ease. These engineers are keen to show you that all of the Trailhawk's talk of low-range and approach angles really means something on even this Jeep.

Which is a good thing, as early European reviewers seem to agree that the Renegade's off-road skills are in stark contrast to its mediocre on-road performance.

But frankly, these show me the Renegade is a ton of fun and (just) enough Jeep for most adventures. It's so adorable doing these off-road tasks you just want to pat it on the head and buy it an ice cream cone.

Jeep has announced the 2015 Renegade will be priced from £16,995 OTR in the United Kingdom.

Set to arrive at dealerships in February, the entry-level Renegade Sport features air conditioning, remote central locking and a touchscreen infotainment system. The model also has Bluetooth connectivity, an electric parking brake and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Default Jeep Bringing Moparized Renegades to Detroit

Chrysler’s Mopar customization arm is outfitting three vehicles to show off at the Detroit Auto Show.

The first two are both Jeep Renegades, one of which is built for the trails while the other will look good downtown in any big city.

The off-road Mopar Renegade is fit with satin-black wheels, tow hooks, a roof basket, a concept skid plate, prototype rock rails and roof rails. For looks, it gets a Commando green paint job that features ‘X’ decals to play off of the look of old jerry cans that were fitted to wartime Jeeps. Finally, to celebrate the Auto Show, a topographical hood decal displays a map of Detroit.

The seconds custom Renegade is finished in a color known as ‘Anvil,’ contrasted by Omaha orange touches. Out back, a hitch bike carrier is ready to take two-wheeled transportation to the park or mountain trail. Inside, Katzkin leather seats are fitted while orange accents carry over onto the HVAC controls, speaker grilles and center console.

Finally, Mopar is bringing along the Challenger T/A Concept that made its original debut at the 2014 SEMA Show. That car is all about going fast at the racetrack and comes with forger aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes, side exhaust exits and a beefed up exhaust note. Most important though is a more rigid chassis and weight loss, both of which are meant to help this big muscle car make it around corners.

Default Jeep Renegade U.S. pricing leaked, costs more than the Patriot

Starts at $17,995

The pricing leaks continue as Chrysler accidentally released a new video which confirms the Jeep Renegade will be priced from $17,995 in the United States.

While the video was quickly pulled, a Jeep Renegade Forum member managed to catch the error before Chrysler fixed their mistake.

As a result, we know the entry-level Renegade Sport will be priced from $17,995. It will come equipped with power windows / locks, a tilt / telescope steering wheel and a UConnect 3.0 infotainment system. The model also has a four-speaker audio system, a split-folding rear seat and 16-inch steel wheels.

The Renegade Latitude will cost $21,295 and reward buyers with fog lights, body color door handles, privacy glass and 16-inch polished aluminum wheels. The model will also have air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a six-speaker audio system and a Uconnect infotainment system with a five-inch touchscreen display.

The luxury-oriented Limited will retail for $24,795 and feature chrome mirrors caps, a revised grille and 18-inch polished aluminum wheels. Other notable highlights include heated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery and a digital instrument cluster. There's also floor mats, a dual-zone automatic climate control system and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Last but not least, the range-topping Renegade Trailhawk will cost $25,995 and have unique bumpers, skid plates and an increased ride height. The model also features hill decent control, an Active Drive Low four-wheel drive system and exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels with "aggressive on-road and off-road tires."

Under the hood, two engines will be available. The 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder produces 160 bhp (119 kW) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque, while the 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder churns out 184 bhp (137 kW) and 177 lb-ft (236 Nm) of torque. Front-wheel drive will be standard on most models but all-wheel drive will be a $2,000 option.

Just a little bit of overlap

With the Cherokee and Renegade I don't think there is much need for the Patriot and Compass. Now axe those two and add the 7 passenger Wagoneer already!

I thought they axed the Patriot and Compass, with the Renegade and Cherokee as their replacements. Serious product overlap with all that non-sense, not to mention only two real off roaders(Wrangler and Grand Cherokee) in that whole sea of crappy crossovers they're also selling

The Patriot will be axed shortly, but the next-generation Compass will arrive next year wearing mini-Grand Cherokee styling.

And to be honest, I wouldn't call the Grand Cherokee a "real off-roader." Sure its capable but its axle articulation is nothing special and it's really only at its best when fully loaded with options and the front air dam is removed. It's upmarket peer Land Rover is doing the same thing though, which is why you can buy an LR4 or a Range Rover Sport without low range now.

That's good to hear. My cousin has a Patriot. Lackluster little thing. JGC is a handsome vehicle. A smaller looking one could be a nice cash cow and good alternative to the slightly larger Cherokee whose looks are love it or hate it.

It was off to sunny San Jose, California, to test out Jeep's latest creation, the Renegade. We put the small SUV through it's paces and can report that it lives true to the Jeep name.

The Jeep Renegade is the smallest entry from the off-road brand. The Renegade replaces 2 of the less popular models: the Patriot and the Compass. This small 4x4 SUV was developed under the partnership with FIAT meaning there is a lot of cross-platform and drivetrain sharing but the end product is so much better than the models that came before.

There are 2 different engine choices on the 2015 Jeep Renegade. The first is a 1.4 liter MultiAir 4-cylinder that makes 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque that comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. The second engine is the larger 2.4 liter Tigershark 4-cylinder that makes 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque and comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
