2016 Mazda2
Mazda’s Hazumi concept leaked today ahead of its official Geneva Motor Show debut.
The concept wears Mazda’s corporate Kodo design language and is meant to be a close preview of the upcoming Mazda2. Just like the concept preview of the Mazda6, the Hazumi concept wears large wheels and features sharp angles that will lend themselves to the small car set to appear in Mazda showrooms soon.
Mazda is also expected to showcase a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel during the show that will be widely used in Europe. The company is still working on refining the emissions of its larger SkyActiv-D engine slated for the Mazda6 in North America before launching it. The smaller mill could make it to the U.S. to power the Mazda3.
Further information about the Hazumi concept will be available once it debuts next week in Geneva.

New Mazda Hazumi Aka the Next Mazda2 Concept in the Flesh
Official imagery of the new Mazda Hazumi concept, previewing the next Mazda2 sub-compact hatch, have spattered onto the web, just before the car makes its grand premiere at the Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday.
The actual photos of the Hazumi portray the picture of a concept that is, if not near, fairly close to the production model, seasoned with sporty and exaggerated elements like the front and rear bumpers, minimalistic mirrors, center mounted exhausts and huge alloys, all for the sake of show.
The overall exterior design theme mirrors what we have seen from Mazda's most recent model like the "3" compact and "6" mid-size cars, while the interior has an overly futuristic feel and look that will not make it to the production car, set to follow later on.
We're short on technical details, but Mazda said that it will also debut a new SkyActiv-D 1.5-liter turbo diesel in Geneva, which will be offered on the next 2 hatch – at least in Europe.

2015 Mazda2 spied for the first time
Previewed by Hazumi concept
A prototype of the next-gen Mazda2 has been grabbed on camera for the very first time ahead of the model's expected 2015 market launch.
Mazda previewed the all-new "2" last month at the Geneva Motor Show with the very attractive Hazumi concept and now they are putting the finishing touches on the car which will reach showrooms probably early next year.
Despite the full body camouflage this prototype is wearing, it's easy to notice the Japanese supermini will feature the firm's Kodo design language which should lead to one of the most appealing models in this segment.
One of the engines which will power the 2015 Mazda2 is going to be a newly developed SKYACTIV-D 1.5 turbodiesel Euro 6 compliant motor working with a 6-speed automatic gearbox that will slash CO2 emissions to under 90 g/km.
In terms of dimensions, we remind you the Hazumi concept was 4070mm long, 1730mm wide and 1450mm tall, with a 2585mm wheelbase and had 18-inch alloys but most definitely the production version will have smaller wheels.
Look for a Paris debut in October, ahead of a market availability late this year or early 2015.

Modified Hazumi Concept Believably Previews Production Mazda2
If you’re in the market for a supermini/city car, and you want to go ahead and buy one of these cars in Europe, then you’re spoiled for choice. The Mazda 2 is still one of those options, but the Ford Fiesta-based model will soon be replaced by a much more attractive model that may turn the segment on its head.
Expected to mirror the design of the Hazumi concept, the production-spec Mazda 2 hatch is set for its debut sometime this year, with bold Kodo styling and SKYACTIV technology; if it’s comparable to other cars in its class in the same way the larger 3 and 6 are, then the establishment had better watch out.
It’s still probably a few months shy of being revealed, though, and the closest thing we have to it currently are these spyshots and the rendering posted after the virtual jump.

That looks really sharp. Here in Indonesia, mazda2 is Mazda's bread and butter. The introduction of the current mazda2 several years ago puts Mazda into existence again. I think it's 3rd most popular city car (compact hatchback) after Honda Jazz(Fit) and Toyota Yaris. This upcoming mazda2 should be another home run for Mazda.
Other popular Mazda lineups are CX5 and Biante minivan. Mazda 3 and 6 sells poorly. If the hatchback version of upcoming 3 is made available here, they might have another good seller.
